🐻🏀 WHAT DOES BEARS BRING TO YOU? 🏀🐻

Sometimes the best people to tell you what being part of Warwickshire Bears is really like are the young players themselves. ❤️

For them, wheelchair basketball is about so much more than what happens on court. It’s about confidence, friendships, having fun, learning new skills and feeling part of a team.

At Bears, we’re proud to create a place where young people can come along, be themselves, develop at their own pace and discover just how much they’re capable of.

And right now, we’re looking for NEW PLAYERS! 🙌

🏀 New to wheelchair basketball? That’s absolutely fine.
🐻 Never played before? We’ll help you get started.
💪 Want to build confidence and learn new skills? Come and give it a go.
❤️ Most importantly — come and become part of our Bears family.

Have a listen to what some of our young Bears and Cubs have to say about what the club brings to them. 🎥👇

🐻🏀 IAG League & U14s Round-Up! 🏀🐻

What a fantastic day of wheelchair basketball on Sunday for both our Bears and Cubs teams! 💪🔥

IAG League Results
📊 Bears 16 - 30 Coventry
📊 Bears 31 - 38 Stoke

U14s Results
📊 Cubs 16 - 9 Coventry Comets
📊 Cubs 10 - 12 Aces
📊 Cubs 10 - 14 Coventry Comets

While the results didn’t all go our way, the scoreboards only tell part of the story. Every player showed incredible determination, teamwork, and passion throughout the day, and the progress being made across the club is amazing to see.

A special congratulations to Isla, who played in her first tournament, and Ted, who also made his competitive debut, showing great ball handling, passing and teamwork throughout the day. 🏀👏

A huge well done to Bobby for scoring his first basket, Jack for his outstanding defence, Ruby-Rose for being a fantastic role model and mentor to our newer players, Corey for stepping up with confidence on both offence and defence, Alice for some excellent shooting and dribbling, and Chloe who had a brilliant day scoring from all around the key.

Moments like these show exactly what the Bears Family is all about—supporting each other, developing confidence, building friendships, and celebrating every achievement, big or small. 🐻❤️

A massive thank you to Ali and Tom for all their hard work behind the scenes organising, coaching and making these opportunities possible for our players.

Finally, thank you to all the parents, carers, grandparents, siblings, aunts, uncles and supporters who cheered on our players throughout the day. Your support means everything.

A huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund for making it possible for our Bears players and families to enjoy an unforgettable team-building weekend at Calvert Trust in the beautiful Lake District.

The weekend was about so much more than just activities. It gave our Bears family the opportunity to spend quality time together, build new friendships, strengthen existing ones, and learn from each other’s experiences. Our players and families all have different disabilities and challenges, and it was inspiring to see everyone sharing how they have adapted and found their own ways to overcome obstacles in everyday life.

From conquering fears to stepping outside comfort zones, every single person pushed themselves throughout the weekend. Whether it was trying a new activity, supporting a teammate, or simply believing in themselves, the courage and determination shown by everyone was incredible to see.

Weekends like this remind us that wheelchair basketball is about much more than sport. It’s about friendship, confidence, inclusion, and being part of something special.

Thank you again to The National Lottery Community Fund for helping us create memories that will last a lifetime and for supporting opportunities that bring our Bears family closer together.

🐻💙 The Bears Family is heading to the beautiful Lake District for a team building weekend away at Calvert Trust!

This weekend is all about coming together off the court — spending quality time getting to know, understand, and support one another even more as a family. Stronger connections off the court help build stronger performances on it, and we can’t wait for this amazing experience together.

A huge thank you to the National Lottery Trust for making this opportunity possible. Your support means so much to our Bears family.

Watch this space for updates from our incredible Bears adventure weekend… memories, teamwork, laughter, and maybe a few surprises along the way! 🏕️⛰️✨

A very special moment for our very own Tom Masterson 👏

Tom, our Bears Chairman and the driving force behind our junior program—leading coaching, development, and recruitment—has been nominated by BWB for his outstanding contribution to wheelchair basketball 🏀

This recognition reflects countless hours of dedication, passion, and commitment to growing the game and supporting athletes at every level. From nurturing young talent to strengthening the club as a whole, Tom’s impact is felt across everything we do.

We couldn’t be prouder to have you leading the way—congratulations, Tom! 💙
