Whilst everyone is preparing for the end of the year and Christmas, I’m excited about January…

On 4th of January Tipton biomechanics and I are starting a Kickstart Programme where will be focusing on helping people improve their diet, the mental health and most importantly their movement patterns.

It’s online, it’s FREE and it is a 14 day reset centred exclusively on Functional Patterns principles and concepts.

If you’re interested in feeling amazing in 14 days, losing some weight and improving or getting rid of your aches and pains then hit the link in the comments…

Trust me when I say this… 👍🏻🤘🏻😎

It’s been 9 years since I was diagnosed with shingles, sleep apnoea, chronic chest infections and appendicitis…

Yep, that happened all in the same year.

If the doctors I saw were honest with me at the time they would have told me I was on a slippery slope to being six feet under.

Here are some examples of the thoughts that I used to have when I woke up each day in 2012/13.

- When will this end?
- The world is f@cked so why should I care about myself?
- Why am I always so tired?
- Why can’t I stop coughing?
- Why can’t I have more energy on my days off?
- I am not worthy.
- I failed at my dream so what’s the point in doing anything else.
- There’s only one road to my lungs, might as well tar it… 🚬

Fast forwarding in my mind to today here are some of the thoughts I have today…

- How can I keep improving?
- How do I solve this next problem?
- Who can I help?
- How can I be a better leader for my family and friends and clients?
- “Crapsticks I am 36 years old!”🤣
- Why can’t people spell…?

Okay that last one was to lighten the mood…

My point is, I’ve been through chronic pain, obesity and depression and I can tell you now, if you are self medicating in any way to ‘just get by’. Or maybe you wake up thinking thoughts like I did, then you are lacking the right stimuli in your life.

Sure it’s 9 years between those thoughts and many hours and £’s spent on personal development, but in reality I needed to change my stimuli to force better adaptation.

Over time that stimulation changes but put simply, start your day, week, month and every day moving forwards with the intention to be better and you will succeed.

If you read this far down then I ask you one thing… Who do you know that needs to hear this today?

🌊 Ripples turn to waves 🌊

I was going to expand on this topic a lot today but sometimes less is more.

When I started out in fitness, and by that I mean did my first training session, I felt like I was going to die. I remember the cravings for chips and Pringles and coke…

It was hard because my body had to learn new things and the challenge of it started like a ripple on the ocean, one small splash of effort that lead to a ripple effect for the rest of my life.

Yesterday I was watching back some footage of me learning how to walk again last year. I remember recording the video, I was in agony… It was one of the most painful things I had to do because instead of my lungs burning and body feeling tired, my feedback was pain if I didn’t get the positioning right…

The better I moved when I walked the less pain I was in. Some days I would nail the right posture and positions and others I wouldn’t but over time the ripples of the first few sessions have paid off.

There is so much more I could say on this, but understand that it doesn’t matter what you feel now about yourself. What matters is what you see in a few weeks, months and years as the ripple turn to waves.

You’ve got this.

Keep making ripples… and if you don’t know how to make them and you’re stuck then reach out for help 💪🏼

🍉 YOUR PERSONAL VALUE IS REFLECTED IN HOW YOU LOOK AND LIVE. 🍉

It’s been 9 years since I started to change my diet and exercise approach.

I knew at the time that setting a goal of weight to lose would be detrimental to my progress, the reason being I was so deep in a mental hole that having a defined goal meant that I would set too many expectations.

If there is one thing that I have learned in life so far is that intention is much better than setting expectation.

My intention from the start was to be a better functioning human being.

What that meant on a biological level was that I needed to give my body the time and space to heal itself.

In that process of healing 2 things happened.

1. I became healthier
2. I developed a better sense of self care (personal value)

When I say self care I mean that I bought better clothes, I made an effort with my grooming and I felt the need for order in my life.

If you think of it like this…

Obesity is a DISORDER

Chronic pain is a DISORDER

Order is actually largely in your control.

You cannot control some things, but you certainly can control how you look after your body and your mind.

If they are not being put as your number 1 priority then it’s likely that you will have disorder in your life.

Take it from someone who has been down many roads of weight-loss, chronic pain, addiction and recovery; YOU CAN DO AMAZING things!

When you make changes to your lifestyle you are upgrading your personal value system.

Your body can heal, your mind can strengthen, your bones and muscles can change…

BUT…

You have to be willing to commit to making it happen.

You can do it.

Believe in Yourself.

Stay Strong and Keep Moving,

If there is one thing that I have to continually remind myself of is the idea that to achieve anything substantial you’re better off starting small.

Then take the small steps that lead to bigger things.

I forget this and I am a coach, which either means I am forgetful, or that it is in our nature to look for big wins really quickly.

If you’re struggling or feel like pain, weight loss and life is all too overwhelming then I suggest just finding the small things to start with first and work your way up.

It’s what worked when I lost 10 stone and it’s what worked when I recovered from chronic pelvic pain syndrome.

Remember, you’re way more powerful than you think you are.

😴💤QUALITY OF SLEEP IS A SYMPTOM ON YOUR QUALITY OF LIFE. 💤😴

Seems like being aware of your quality of sleep is one thing but to actually improve your sleep quality is what is missed by so many people buying health trackers.

If you wake up tired, go to bed late and live with pain in your day (physical or emotional) then you have the wrong stimuli layered in your life.

The quality of your sleep Will be determined by how you start your day.

Top tips for this:

Reduce caffeine intake.

Make time for yourself each day to do NOTHING.

Avoid eating late and being highly stimulated at night.

We live in a world filled with more and more DIS-ORDERS.

Stands to reason we need more ORDER in our lives and that comes by improving the quality of your life.

Take it from me, when I lost weight and improved my movement patterns and diet I became more organised in my life.

It’s actually a lot more simple than most people make it out to be.
