Understanding Classification Webinar.

Join us for an informative webinar delivered in partnership with the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) to help athletes, coaches and support teams prepare for the World Sailing Inclusion Championships.

Whether you're attending WSIC for the first time or have competed before, understanding the classification process is an important part of preparing for the event. This webinar will guide sailors through what to expect, explain the key steps in the classification journey, and provide practical information to help you arrive in Portimão ready to compete.

The session will cover topics including:

•⁠ ⁠The purpose of classification in Para sailing.

•⁠ ⁠An overview of the classification process.

•⁠ ⁠What sailors need to do before arriving at the event.

•⁠ ⁠What to expect during classification in Portimão.

•⁠ ⁠Adaptive equipment and declarations.

•⁠ ⁠Questions and answers with the World Sailing Classification Team.

The webinar will be delivered by members of the World Sailing Classification Team in collaboration with the RYA and is open to athletes, coaches, Member National Authorities and anyone supporting sailors attending the Championships.

We encourage everyone involved in the World Sailing Inclusion Championships to join us. Our aim is to ensure that every sailor arrives feeling informed, prepared and confident about the classification process.

Dear All,

We are pleased to announce that World Sailing will be hosting a webinar "Vision Impairment Sailing - Tips for Grassroots to World Champions" with World Champion Lucy Hodges MBE.

The webinar will focus on how Vision Impaired racing is run, strategies for coaches when creating a racing program, and tips for sailors during competitions and recreational sailing.

The webinar will be run three times so that all those in different time zones are able to attend and learn.

The presentation and recording will also be put on the [World Sailing Academy.](https://www.sailing.org/world-sailing-academy/)

We’d love for as many as possible to be aware of this initiative and, if possible, to join online. These webinars are an important opportunity for Athletes, Coaches, and Administrators to learn more about Vision Impaired sailing, and running competition events for your VI athletes.

🌊 More opportunities, more inclusion, more people getting out on the water! ⛵

It's fantastic to see more sailing clubs and centres creating welcoming, inclusive environments for blind and partially sighted sailors.

On Monday, Chris Albert visited
Sailability run by the Coquettrust to see how the group has been progressing. Working in partnership with Newcastle Vision Support, they are helping more people experience the freedom, confidence and enjoyment that sailing brings.

The session took place at the beautiful Druridge Bay Country Park, where sailors had the chance to develop new skills, build confidence and enjoy time on the water in a supportive environment.

A huge well done to everyone involved. Partnerships like these are making sailing more accessible across the UK, and it's inspiring to see so many clubs opening their doors to visually impaired sailors.

What an incredible weekend! ⛵💙

Blind Sailing was proud to take part in the Inclusive Games at Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy, bringing together 8 visually impaired sailors and 6 deaf sailors for two fantastic days of racing, learning, and teamwork.

It was inspiring to see everyone develop over the weekend from improved boat handling to a greater understanding and application of the racing rules. Every sailor made real progress, and the enthusiasm on and off the water was amazing to witness.

A huge thank you to all of our volunteers 🥰

Quite simply, we couldn't run our charity without your dedication, generosity, and the time you give to make opportunities like this possible.

Special thanks to Steve Irish Coaching for his coaching, and to Becky and the race management team for working together so seamlessly to deliver a brilliant event.

The wind certainly kept everyone on their toes around Portland Bill, but thanks to a quick course reset and only a short delay, both days were packed with exciting racing.

We're so proud to be part of a growing, inclusive sailing community where everyone has the chance to learn, compete, and thrive. Here's to many more events like this! 🌊

As we head into a race training event at Weymouth.

We want to say congratulations to Jamie and Jude both attend blind sailing training then often seen as we leave jumping back in the boat and doing more.

Back-to-back champion!

Jamie Tylecote successfully defended his title at the RYA Harken Youth Match Racing Championship, claiming victory for a second consecutive year at Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy.

Jude winning Schools Fleet Racing and starting his racing career in a great way, and proudly in his GBR Blind Sailing kit.
