Sunday Tigers up next.

Another tough morning for the lads today, but we all wanted challenging games — and today was certainly one of them!

The game started very much back and forth and could have gone either way, but William broke the deadlock to make it 1-0. From there, we really started to dominate and created plenty of chances, but we went into half-time with the score still 1-0.

Not long into the second half, William grabbed his second to make it 2-0. We held onto that lead for the majority of the half, but without fresh legs, we eventually started to run out of steam. They managed to score three quick goals to turn the game around and take the lead.

But the lads never gave up! With seconds left on the clock, a fantastic last-minute corner from Dylan found William, who completed his hat-trick to make it 3-3!

I genuinely think we deserved the win today. Every single player put in a shift, and I couldn’t fault the effort, attitude or determination from the lads. They gave absolutely everything from start to finish.

MOTM 🏆 — Dylan for his constant running, hard work and sheer determination to win the ball back. A brilliant performance!

Great work from everyone today. Unfortunately, the winning streak comes to an end, but I’ll happily take undefeated! 👏⚽

Krakens up this morning. Great game with loads of goals. The lads came off smiling, mostly, so very happy coaches.

David bagged his first of the season, fresh off missing yesterday to get the perm done!

Josh won a penalty for Joseph to convert for his hat-trick. He even added a 4th late on after good work from Harrison.

Seems odd that conceding 8 our second half defenders Noah and Matthew had one of their best games. Tracking hard and making loads of tackles.

We won the second half with Charlie much calmer on the ball picking passes.

Most pleasing was seeing Zac display some of the stuff we have worked on in training. His punch set the counter attack for our 5th. A great game from him with loads of saves against a great Wreka team.

Seb came 6th in the park run, with coach Keith not realising the kickoff had changed!

Onto next week looking for our first Sunday win of the season.

Match Day 4
Playing a fantastic footballing Seaburn who beat us 5-4 last season. These technical lads are playing a year up and always playing the right way.

We have worked all week on high pressing, quick passing and blocking shots and we had asked for “man tackles” from the boys.

We started with 3 early chances all hitting the woodwork leaving coaches thinking it may be one of those days.

The deadlock was finally broken after Charlie sent Noah free down the left, who cut in and curled it in the corner.

Great pressing from our front 3, led by Seb meant James scored 2 quick goals to put us up by 3.

Oakley on for Seb, and he scored almost instantly, turning home from close range after Noah’s shot had been saved.

Harrison next up, in a carbon copy from 2 weeks ago. Quick kick in, past the defender and curled home for our 5th.

Oakley rounded off the first half scoring after James played him in and he fired powerfully home.

This was without doubt the best half of football I’ve seen from the lads. Matthew and Charlie were sensational at the back. We had the high press game plan meaning they would be exposed at times but they won every tackle and carried the ball forward to start wave after wave of attacks. Some quality Xhaka-esq switches from Matthew. Zac was kept reasonably quiet, mopping up any balls coming through to him and starting quick attacks.

We changed up lots of positions in the second half, to develop skills and different experiences. We still had great attacking moments but ran out of steam towards the end as we only had one sub.

The goals did keep coming with James playing in Seb, who turned quickly and fired home.

James completed the scoring in dominant fashion securing his second hatrick of the season and adding his 4th before the end. He has been on fire so far this season from midfield. He will be a miss next week but gives the lads a chance to catch him up!

Zac was much busier second half pulling off a string of superb saves. One tipped round the post, one smother, one star jump save were all highlights. He was beaten twice at the end, the first after he had already saved a good free kick.

Credit to Seaburn who kept at it all game but this result and performance had been coming. If we take our chances we can score for fun. 27 in 4 games says we have some outstanding attackers, built around a solid defence and keeper conceding 9 all season.

Get up Tigers. 🔵⚪️🐅

We didn’t think it was fair to do a MOTM today as the lads were all brilliant, contributing to everything we did as a team. However, the lads singled out Charlie for chief “man tackler”. He was a beast in the first half and I don’t think I saw him lose a tackle. Well done Charlie!

Congrats to our Nowie coming runner up in south Tynesides year 5 cross country championship. So pleased to see so many grassroots footballers doing well. Reggie from Harton & Westoe Real coming in third too! Great work lads! We were represented by Charlie and Dylan too. I’m sure a few others would have been up there too if their schools had entered.

Sunday Tigers match report.

First game of the season, and I’m not sure who was more nervous, me or the lads!

After our friendly on Thursday, I was unsure how the morning would go, and for the first 10 minutes, I thought we were going to struggle. After 10 minutes, and with Tommy making some great saves, we couldn’t hold them off and they went 1-0 up.

But after that goal, something must have switched on, because it was like watching a different team. No more than two minutes later, James crossed a lovely ball in, which William put away to bring us level. Unfortunately, this was William’s only goal of the day, but he could have easily had a hat-trick if he had been slightly more on target.

Immediately after that, our new signing, Mark, found himself on the edge of the box and went for goal. Amazingly, the shot went through two of their defenders and found the bottom corner.

Just before half-time, James got the ball in our half and decided to go on a run. He danced around their full team before putting it away to give us a 3-1 lead at half-time.

The second half saw us create a tonne more chances from everyone on the team, but what was so impressive was the work from Dylan, Ethan, Aaron and Mark. They all played at different points in the game, but every one of them tracked back to win the ball and gave everything they had.

Our three defenders, Ben, Jack and Jacob, did what they do every game and made it an absolute nightmare for their attackers to get anywhere near Tommy. Tommy didn’t have a lot to do in the second half, which, to me, is a sign of a good game.

They did manage to score a second, but it was a long shot that Tommy was just out of reach of.

MOTM was James, who was unstoppable today and didn’t put a foot wrong.

Match day 3
After 7 goals last week the lads were hungry for more against a Wrekenton team we played twice last year.

A very windy day the coaches decided to play against the wind first half knowing we wanted to finish strong.

We played some great football and Oakley tested the keeper early. Noah, Charlie Harrison and Matthew all with shots that could have ended up in the back of the net. Then a bit of a sucker punch, a great strike from the Wrekenton forward beat Zac, just getting his fingers to it but unable to keep it out.

We leveled from a strike from Seb, which was saved, and the ball fell to James who slotted home with the keeper still on the floor.

More great play from David down the right and Seb bombing on the left created more chances but we went in at half time 2-1 down after another long range, wind assisted strike after a quick kick in.

We knew we had more than enough to come back into the game but it took around 10 mins to get the breakthrough. Joseph weaved into the box and was about to shoot, when he was fouled. James stepped up as our penalty taker and slammed it home.

Some beautiful play with Harrison, Joseph and Charlie down the left meant we were quickly ahead. Harrison bagging a brace in very similar moves leaving defenders helpless as the ball was passed round them.

Charlie again turning provider for James this time and after he has scored 2 each in the previous games, he completed his hat-trick from close range.

James turning provider soon after feeding Noah who chipped it over the keeper for our 6th.

Joesph completed a great performance with a goal from the edge of the box to make it 7-2.

David almost added to the scoring but couldn’t quite get his shot past the keeper.

What was especially pleasing, was how we defended second half and kept our heads when we needed to. Strong tackles and tracking from Oakley and Matthew meant we kept our clean sheet.

Zac completely diffused any danger second half and was very commanding in his box. We had worked on long balls into the box and taking charge. This was definitely on display today and deserved his clean sheet.

We went with James for MoTM. Scoring crucial goals at crucial times, great tracking back and good decision making. Another great performance from the team with multiple strong candidates. 3 games, 7 points 18 goals scored and 7 conceded. What a great bunch of lads we have.

Three big games for our Tigers and Krakens this weekend. Both our Sunday seasons get started this weekend and Saturday week 3. We will have 21 lads playing for us this weekend and are proud of what we have built and seeing the lads grow as young boys into young men. They love their football and so do the coaches and parents.

We have a few debuts this weekend, one old and two new. Josh is coming back full time on a Sunday for the Krakens. Mark and Aaron will both be playing their first competitive games for the Sunday Tigers after learning the ropes against our good friends Harton and Westoe Force last night.

Good luck to all the teams and all the lads. 🐅🦑

Match day 2
After last weeks positive performance and 4-4 thriller we were hoping to get our seasons first win against Ryhope.

We started brightly and controlled most of the play but couldn’t find the killer finish. James and Harrison going closest early on. Charlie was an attacking threat down the right creating chances.

The breakthrough came after Noah intercepted and drove forward, unleashing his shot against the bar, but James was there to slam home.
Matthew, wearing his boots after he left them at home, came on and had a chance from a Noah throughball but fired just wide. He would have a carbon copy chance minutes later after a brilliant ball from James and he made no mistake second time around.

Charlie, now in defence, pressed high up and won the ball back. He played in Oakley who fired past the keeper. He had been sent on with his coaches telling him he would get his first league goal. Good lad Oakley. Welcome to the Tigers!

A fairly quiet half for Zac keeping his clean sheet with a few regulation saves but he had one covered that crashed onto the bar.

Into the second half and Noah and Joseph combining brilliantly set up James for our 4th. The opposition couldn’t get near Joseph all day stringing passes together with the team.

Harrison made the 5th all himself, taking the quick kick in, cutting inside and firing home from outside the box.

Seb was next in on the act after working tirelessly up top. He had pressed and made chances for others. Joseph’s shot was saved then the rebound fell to Seb to score.

Playing against the extra man, our opponents did get their deserved goal from a corner. Zac a bit gutted he couldn’t keep that clean sheet but he will be happy with the saves he made.

The scoring was wrapped up by Harrison, getting his first 2 of the season. Another cracking strike after the ball broke after a shot from Matthew had been blocked.

The win secured and players, coaches and parents delighted with the efforts. A great team performance with everyone contributing.

A very difficult MOTM decision but coach Keith went with Noah. He created loads of chances, blocked shots (painfully), made tackles, and could have scored a couple too. Great performance.

Back again next week and both Sunday teams get their seasons started.
