🔴⚪🔵 BOLDON GIRLS U14 – WHAT. A. GAME! 🔵⚪🔴

Did anyone actually not enjoy that game today? If you didn’t, I’m afraid football might not be the sport for you! 😂 Because that was football at its absolute finest!
We started the game brilliantly, looking composed, playing some lovely football and keeping the lads relatively quiet. That was until they decided to try their luck from outside the box… a bit of a lucky one, followed by a top-corner beauty.
2–0 down? No problem.
Welcome to The Real Boldon Girls. 💪
Instead of heads dropping, the girls rolled up their sleeves, got to work and started playing some absolutely gorgeous football. Triangles, playing out from the keeper, moving the ball with confidence and creating chances at the other end.
And leading the charge was Erin Rumins, who appeared to have been fitted with an extra pair of lungs before kick-off! 😂 She covered every blade of grass… and probably a few from the neighbouring pitch too. Absolutely outstanding and thoroughly deserving of her Coaches’ GOTG alongside Erin Boiston, who was simply superb in the middle of the park.
And what a debut from Darcey! Quick feet, strength, tenacity and absolutely no fear. A brilliant first outing. 👏
⚽ THE COMEBACK WAS ON!
With just 10 minutes to go before half-time, Georgia found herself in behind following a lovely pass from Erin R.
What followed was pure Georgia. Using her studs, she dragged the ball around the keeper before firing a left-footed effort towards goal. The defenders tried their best to keep it out… but it was already too late!
2–1! GAME ON! 🔥
And then came one of my favourite moments of the game.
Now, traditionally, when girls' teams play against boys, winning headers from corners isn't always the easiest task. But someone clearly forgot to tell Erin Boiston! 😂
A fantastic corner from Annabelle and Erin rose like she had a personal appointment with the football, powering a superb header into the net.
2–2!
From 2–0 down to level at half-time. What a response!
🗣️ HALF-TIME TEAM TALK
The instructions were simple:
"Play like you have in the last 15 minutes and you will win this game."
Did they listen?
OF COURSE THEY DID! 😎🔥
Halfway through the second half, Gabby was doing what Gabby does best — pressing high, putting them under pressure and making life very uncomfortable.
The ball then came out to Alice, who delivered a lovely ball into Georgia.
Georgia controlled it calmly, took a touch to get past one player and then absolutely BLASTED us into the lead!
3–2 BOLDON! 🚀
And the next 15 minutes? Well, this wasn't a team sitting back hoping to survive.
We attacked. We won the ball in midfield. We competed out wide. We played with confidence and looked absolutely superb.
Robyn, meanwhile, spent the afternoon turning their right-back into a full-time detective. 😂
He'll be checking under his bed tonight to see if she's there, after the number of times she sent him the wrong way with those meggings! An absolute nightmare for him and another fantastic performance, earning herself Coaches’ GOTG.
🧱 DEFENCE WINS GAMES… BUT OURS PLAYS FOOTBALL!
I have to give massive credit to our defence today.
Evie and Lydia were absolutely top quality. Calm, composed and doing everything right throughout the game.
And alongside them, Melina and Annabelle put in superb performances. They defended brilliantly, got forward when they could and showed so much composure in possession.
That's what makes this team so enjoyable to watch. We aren't just defending for the sake of it. We're playing football, moving the ball, making decisions and showing real confidence under pressure.
And when you combine that with the effort, determination and quality we showed today, you get performances like this.
❤️ FINAL THOUGHTS
Honestly, girls, what an all-round TOP, TOP PERFORMANCE!
From going 2–0 down to fighting back, playing some fantastic football and winning 3–2 against a very good group of lads.
The character, the quality, the work rate and the belief were there for everyone to see.
