𝕄 𝔸 𝕋 ℂ ℍ 𝔻 𝔸 𝕐 -- 𝟙

On matchday 1, the lads took on Humbledon and Plains Farm. A new opponent for the boys and our first challenge at this level. We were expecting a tough introduction and that is what transpired. A team with quality in their ranks, we wanted to make sure we stuck to plan and continued to work on our long term vision which started at u9s and now moves into this season as u11s.

It remains a real point of pride that we move into this season with the same set of lads we started with almost 3 years ago and having recently reviewed their individual development plans their progress and development is something the lads, their parents and adults and the coaching team can be extremely proud of!

At Washington Juniors, we will continue to do things the right way with individual development at the heart of everything we do and despite the result yesterday we won't deviate from that plan.

We would like to reserve special praise for the main man Junior. Without our new goalkeeper for MD1, we had to rely on someone stepping up out of their comfort zone and that man was Junior. Despite conceding several goals as a team, Junior picked up opposition man of the match for his ability to continously bounce back pulling off a number of saves that even the best keepers would be proud of. Excellent stuff Junior. Well done young man!

We'll bounce back next Thursday at training as we prepare for next Saturday's Washington Derby against Athletic!

Ethan led my team for 3 years, setting standards and leading by example on the training pitch and on matchdays.

Great to be back out on the pitches after what feels like a lifetime since our last game. Since then things have changed somewhat and we have had to replace our number 1.

We have been delighted with Nathan's progress since he joined us at training and today showed we have struck gold.

The lads were fantastic all the morning and despite losing the final on pens we leave Spennymoor with our heads held high.

Huge thank you to our opponents and the organisers JB Coaching for giving the lads the opportunity.

A tragic day for football.

Kevin Keegan had an incredible impact on football in our region through various spells at Newcastle United as well as 323 games at Liverpool and a British record transfer to Hamburg where he won the Bundesliga.

Captain of England on 31 occasions and a double Ballon D'or winner.

Football has lost a great.

RIP Mighty Mouse.

What a season we've had! Off the back of promotion in our first campaign we are back amongst the front runners again this season

Our destiny is to be decided in the coming weeks but our pride in our success remains absolute.

Thursday nights on the pitches, developing, improving and fine tuning our game model. Saturday mornings applying our learning in proper Washington Juniors fashion.

We finish the season with a sad farewell. Today was number 1's final outing behind the orange and black wall. Carter is a special talent who has an attitude and dedication to match. He'll be missed and leaves a huge hole in our Washy Juniors family
