Exbury Gardens 10k 2025 plants our fourth tree to support the gardens

As we did after each race since 2022 race we have planted a tree in the gardens on behalf of the 2025 race to support the canopy and biodiversity of the gardens.

With the help and advice of Head Gardener Tom Clarke, I went along to plant an Incense Cedar our fourth tree. It's a majestic evergreen tree native to western North America, valued for its aromatic wood and ecological contributions.

It will hopefully stand proudly in the parkland area of the gardens near to the finish for many years to come and represent everyone that entered the race in 2025. The whatthreewords location is ///cloak.waistcoat.rely

We plan to continue our support with a fifth tree on behalf of all the runners at our 2026 race.

Exbury 10k 2026 opens - a picturesque run and picnic date for your diary!

We are delighted to announce the return of the fifth Exbury Gardens 10k - one of the south's most picturesque 10k's on Sunday 28 June 2026. This year we are celebrating the 'magnificent magnolias' found at Exbury - you can see the t-shirt design below.

We have again been given special permission for the start and finish to be in the beautiful Exbury Gardens in one of their most popular months of the year.
Staged with the support of Hardley runners, your run, on this flat/undulating course, starts in the stunning gardens and takes you through glorious countryside to the scenic Lepe beach with panoramic views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. You will then continue your journey back to the finish in Exbury Gardens. You can see a runners eye video of the scenic route

All runners will a bespoke medal but we have also agreed with Exbury that all runners get FREE entry into the stunning gardens after their run - after the 2025 event lots of runners enjoyed a summer picnic or coffee and cake to celebrate their achievement and made some unique running memories.

Hythe bypass closure

Stop Press 16.15pm -its now reopened !!!

Please be aware that an emergency road closure of the A326 (Hythe Bypass at Applemore Hill) due to a burst water main and highway damage is still ongoing.

This section of the busy bypass closed due to a burst pipe was set to be reopened by Friday evening but is still ongoing and MAY still be in place tomorrow.

There is a diversion route and there are also other routes across the forest that are unaffected.

So advice is to plan your route and leave 10-15 minutes earlier to allow for the road closure. The link below provides a map and gives updates on the closure to help you plan your route.

Weather for the Exbury Gardens 10k on Sunday

Thankfully the weather is set to be cooler for Sunday with the BBC forecast for sunny intervals and cloud together with a fresh breeze.

Although we will have a mid race water point and water at the end we would also urge runners to consider if they want to bring their own water with them for the race.

And NHS advice on beating the heat is to also :
😎 wear sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses
🥛 drink plenty of fluids

See you on Sunday
