I love cooking - tonight was chickpea & veg tagine with cous cous. But I can never make a meal look like it does in a recipe book πŸ“–
Of course in recipe books the plates are prepared by a pro chef, probably with some trickery, perfect lighting and a pro photographer πŸ“Έ and likely some photoshop too
The food still tastes great (most of the time) and fills me up.
It's the same for magazines and influencers... those bodies aren't always a true reflection of real life - nor are they a reflection of value either way.

April is generally a little stress can be helpful to focus us and our activities, as long as we can channel it properly. The amount of stress someone can handle will vary person to person and also throughout their life. The same water that boils the egg softens the potato!

Happy Mother's Day to all our Mothers, Mother-Figures and Mothers-to-be.

I had a lovely couple of hours with my mum earlier, enjoying the sun β˜€οΈ and talking about gardens and plants! πŸŒΏπŸŒ·πŸ’πŸŒ»

My thoughts are with those who have lost their mothers or children, those who have strained mother/child relationships and those who are yearning to be mothers.


A really insightful webinar this afternoon put on by looking at working with women and girls in fitness and sport.
Beth spoke about the challenges teenage girls faced, how to engage them with exercise and how training plans can be aligned to menstrual cycles to maximise performance.
This was followed by Jenny talking through the additional support women need from perinatel through to post-menopause with a focus on how COVID restrictions have impacted many womens pelvic health!
Lots of extra resources to delve into to better serve the female clients I'm working with! πŸ‘


The mornings are starting to get a little lighter πŸŒ… and the birds were singing 🐦 making the 6am start much easier todayπŸ‘

For me it varies from person to person and purpose to purpose - climbing a tree 🌳 has a different fitness profile than pushing a car πŸš— carrying shopping πŸ› or sprint races on a bike 🚴

Lovely words from one of my PT Clients. We've had a few more than just the three sessions now and have been making great progress. After COVID hit, her daily activity took a nosedive - no more walking from car park to office ❌ no more walking to chat to colleagues ❌
We've been working on ensuring solid fundamental movement patterns to combat long days spent at a makeshift home office set up with gym sessions and a home workout plan to follow too. As well as information on how to easily increase the non-exercise activity at home!

It's so much more than just an absence of illness. You need to balance your physical health with your social health and your mental/emotional health.
Regular can be a positive factor in all areas of health - the physical is self explanatory, but you also get to join a community in a gym or group classes and release endorphins while you're moving!

Client deadlifts

First time working on barbell deadlifts yesterday. - proving is never too late to try something new and smash it! 🀩

In the first attempt the bar might have moved millimetres off the floor. So we spent a little time looking at set up, technique, rack pulls, and negatives, then the bar started flying off the floor!
The smile at the end of the video speaks volumes of the progress within just one session πŸ’ͺ

Your is a key part of your overall health. The past couple of years have been tough for a lot of people - isolation, anxiety, job losses, losing friends or family. Even without a global pandemic life can be *HARD* with a capital H A R D! Often the cause, and solution can be out of our control too.
If you've been feeling low recently drop a friend a text and go for coffee - I know it's hard, but it'll be worth it. If you've noticed a friend has been quieter recently, check in on them - you might not get much back, but they'll know you're thinking of them which could make all the difference!
I've recently found out first hand how being more active throughout the day, and being around people (even as an introvert) can boost your general mood.
Seeing the likes of and prioritising mental health over performing this summer was fantastic - some of the reaction shows we have a long way to go to break the stigma around Mental Health.

Before joining the team here I had an office job for 10 years, and have been running my own martial arts school for 5 years. I've lived the life of both a sedentary desk worker and international athlete and have felt the benefits of regular exercise in both my physical and mental health.
