🏊‍♀️ Event report 🏊‍♀️
Half River Hamble 4km Swim
with Washed Up Events

Fantastic event, swimming upstream with the incoming tide on Saturday morning.
Very well organised, super relaxed and friendly, with lots of safety cover, photos and fab finishing token/drinks/sweets.

Meeting around 7.30am at the finish YMCA Fairthorne Manor to register. Plenty of time and facilities to get ready for a coach trip to the start by the A27 bridge for 9am.
Time to acclimatise in the water before heading off on the 4km upstream swim with a drinks stop half way.
We had a good push from the tide for at least the first hour and you need to be able to complete the 4km in 2 hours.
You have a timing chip around your wrist, need to wear a bright hat and tow float and can swim in wetsuit or skins.
At the finish there were photos taken (really appreciated if you don't have supporters with you), we received a print out if of our time/position, 2 drinks, sweets and an amazing glass swimmers magnet from Muddy puddle pottery 🏅

I would definitely recommend the event and will be back next year!
Thank you to all the organisers and safety teams on the day 🌟
Great event tonight. Really enjoyed it, thank you all involved.
Thank you so much Washed Up Events Stefan and Mike and all the lovely volunteers who made Beth’s first open water swim a brilliant experience. After several years of refusing to come out with the parents she went and smashed her swim tonight and loved every moment. Thank you!
Thank you for looking after us yesterday we had a fantastic afternoon. The course, marshals and hospitality was top draw. Here is a swimmers eye view.
Merry Christmas everyone. Thanks for a great and well organised swim today. My medals have proud of place, front and centre 😍
Amazing event, wonderful volunteers and lovely swim. My tree is looking splendid! Happy Birthday Gemma Hargrave x
That’s the tree sorted - not sure it needs anything else!

Great swim at Hayling this morning. Full neoprene made for a toasty 29 mins with a handstand finale. Just couldn't get synchronised though!
A great swim at Hayling today with Cora Graham. Full neoprene made for a toasty 29 mins finished with a handstand finale. We just didn't manage to synchronise 😂 Loved it Thank you!
Stephanie Ancell and I managed 25 mins at Hayling this morning! Not sure what the beach goers thought of our handstands!!!
A first time for everything 🥶

We’ve done multiple inspections of the river this morning and our rule of “if we wouldn’t swim in it we won’t ask you to” means the swim is off. The water quality is too poor with the rain that has fallen (and planned to fall).
We are speaking to all the various bodies about pushing the swim back to the 24th Sept but will come back to you with options as soon as we know more. We are really sorry but our swimmers safety is our number 1 priority.

We are really pleased to let you know that Swim Secure have again kindly donated spot prizes for our Half River Swim on Sat Sept 10th.
Our hostess with the mostess, Sandra Coffin will do the draw for the spot prizes on the day!

Unfortunately we've taken the hard decision to cancel this Saturday's SunRiser swim as we've just not had enough entries across the 3 events. For those entered, you will receive a full refund this evening.

Our half river swim in September already has nearly as many entries as we had last year so it just means we can focus even more on that and giving the swimmers a great experience in the Hamble. Then back to the drawing board to look at what we can do make our swims and aquathons even better!

The Washed Up Sunriser 03/07/2022

Someone way wiser than me has told me that if we get more reviews on our page it helps on searches and stuff, sooo, could we please ask you to leave a review on the page (ideally with a lot of stars) to help us push up the ratings. Pretty please and many thanks in advance!

A love of swimming outdoors

Mike and Stefan have created a series of small fun swimming events on the Hamble River to enable swimmers of all levels to enjoy this amazing location in a safe environment whilst pushing themselves as far or as little as they want.

The events are laps of 750m where swimmers can cover as many laps as they want within 90 minutes. Swim for 9 minutes, 90 minutes or somewhere in between, our events are about you swimming as much or as a little as you want with the same level of support from the event team. If you want, get out after a bit, take a break and then go back in, the 90 minutes is for you to use as much or as little as you want. Whether you're a first time open water swimmer or someone training for another event, these swims are for you and all swimmers will receive a swim hat and a finishers token for completing the event.
