The effect of stress on your progress…
Without a doubt, stress is one of the most overlooked obstacles on the journey of progression
Chronically elevated levels of cortisol (from stress) can mitigate muscle development, also leading to less progressions in strength
Here are a few things which are scientifically proven to lower stress:
-MEDITATION (guided meditations and breathing, if you’re not sure where to start, can be effective at reducing stress)
-COLD WATER IMMERSION (this actually temporarily increases cortisol in the short term, but will increase stress tolerance in the long term)
-WALKING/NATURE (spending time outdoors has been proven to be effective at reducing cortisol, which is why I recommend getting steps in to my clients!)
If you’re putting in a lot of effort but not seeing great results, stress is one of the things that should most definitely be addressed!

Why is flexibility so important?
A lot of people say ‘I should probably be stretching more’, but very few people actually do something about it
If more people knew about how much flexibility can increase their progress then I believe that more people would take action
Range of motion is the canvas on which movement can be painted
So essentially, without range of motion, you are unable to perform the movement
Particularly within advanced bodyweight training, some people lack range of motion in the shoulders, and this is what is preventing them from progressing rather than a lack of strength
An example of this is the muscle up- many people are strong at dips and pull ups, but are unable to perform the transition even with practice
Why? Because they lack the shoulder extension in order to transition between the rings
There are many more examples, but the point being that having the range of motion to perform a movement should be the foundation before drilling it and aiming to increase strength💪🏼

Do you train frequently enough in order to see the strength gains that you want?
If you’ve been training a certain movement for a while, but not seen any progress, then you may benefit from increasing your training frequency…
The movements that you want to learn and improve (ie muscle ups, pull ups, dips, handstands etc) are difficult skills to learn
In order to achieve these movements, it’s appropriate to expect to see progress with 2-4 sessions per week..
.making sure that every session is largely based around the movements you want to increase strength in
It sounds straightforward- however if you’re wanting to do your first muscle up but are only focusing on that once a week, then increasing frequency will bring you better results

What’s the benefits of having a coach?
-INCREASED QUALITY OF LIFE
Training with a coach can reduce aches and pains, improve movement capacity and allow you to live pain free
-YOU LEARN WHAT TO DO/HOW TO DO IT
Especially if you’re new to training, you may not know how to execute movements optimally or even know where to begin with programming for your goals. A coach will remove the guessing game and you will progress much faster and efficiently, and hopefully learn along the way how to do it yourself!
-YOU WILL GET RESULTS
Simply, customised exercise programs will always breed better results. Working with a coach will massively increase your chances of success as opposed to doing it all by yourself
-IMPROVED CONSISTENCY/ACCOUNTABILITY
One of the biggest obstacles to reaching goals for people is the consistency factor due to not being able to maintain accountability. A coach will eliminate this factor and always step in to be the accountability when it is missing!
Even coaches need coaches… overall, having a professional guiding you through the process will not only increase your chances of success but also make the process much more efficient
