WHY DO WE USE BAR SHOES!
There are several different types of bar shoes such as; straight bar, egg bar and heart bar.
Straight bar shoes are a fantastic option for supporting horses that need extra stability and protection.
These shoes feature a solid bar across the heels, which helps:
✔️ Provide heel support – Ideal for horses with weak, collapsed or underrun heels.
✔️ Stabilise the hoof capsule – Reduces excessive movement and supports recovery.
✔️ Distribute weight more evenly – Helps relieve pressure on injured or sensitive areas.
✔️ Support horses with lameness issues – Commonly used in cases of tendon injuries, navicular concerns, or quarter cracks.
✔️ Encourage healing – By limiting heel expansion and offering structural support.
Every horse is different, and straight bar shoes are always fitted based on individual assessment to ensure the best outcome.
If you think your horse may benefit from extra hoof support, feel free to get in touch to discuss 🐎

☂️🐴 Autumn Hoof Care 🐴☂️
Hoof care in Autumn is essential to stop your horses hooves from increased risk of infections and cracks. Due to damp and muddy surroundings. Keeping those hooves clean and moisturised is essential for healthy hoofs.
1. Regular Hoof Picking
➡️ This will stop accumulation of mud, stones and debris. This will help to stop discomfort, infections and lameness.
2. Regular Farrier Visits
➡️ Farriers can maintain the hoofs health with regular trims but also can identify issues and address these problems before winter. Regular hoof visits with your Farrier every 6 to 10 weeks can ensure proper care.
3. Moister Management
➡️ The wet and dry conditions can cause the hooves to expand and contract resulting in cracks. Keeping the hooves dry as possible and free from mud will help. Using hoof care treatments like moisturisers or hoof sealant can help prevent cracks. Contact your Farrier if you wish to be recommended the best sealant that suits your horse and local conditions.
4. Check for Infections
➡️ Daily hoof care means you can be looking out for any signs of infections. If you notice any difference to your horses hooves contact your Farrier for guidance.
