Xmas Meal! ๐โ๏ธโจ
With the end to 2024, here is a recap of our lovely Christmas meal. Thank you to the social secs for organising and for the photos! On behalf of all of Committee, we wish you a very happy holiday and good start to 2025 โจ๐๐ฅณ # # #
South Wales 1! ๐ถ๐
A lovely beginner trip to Wales. Although there was severe lack of rain, we made the most of it. Thank you to Ruby and Ale for organising the trip and a yummy (not so yummy) chicken jambalaya (this is ale writing), and the rest of committee for helping save dinner!
October Dart!
Our first beginner river trip of the year! ๐Thank you to Fil and Ale for organising, and for the camera photos. The autumnal vibes were ๐๐๐ค๐ค, AND there was river dog Ruby! A lovely trip with some yummy fajitas and mostly no incidents (love u Ted)
Here are all the trips we have planned for the upcoming year!
We have a variety of beginner and intermediate level trips throughout the year, these are subject to change depending on water levels, but we will let you know if they change.
Members of committee will be organising each trip, so make sure to get in contact if you have any questions.
Hope you are all excited for the upcoming trips, including a few new ones added to the schedule ๐คฉ๐ฅ.
More information on each trip will be posted on the Facebook about a week before the trip, and sign-ups as well.
SUCC Boat ball 2024 ๐ฅ๏ธ๐ฅ๐๐ถ
Hello hello all,
On the 27th April 2024, SUCC celebrated its annual boat ball! It was lovely seeing so many people there, freshers, members, and alumni, many who came down to Southampton specifically for the boat ball ๐. Sadly the weather was not on our side (a few very wet succers), but a little rain has never stopped SUCC.
Iโd like to thank Jake Southern for organising the boat ball, had an amazing turnout and was a very lovely evening.
The boat ball featured a raffle (thank you to Ayla for presenting) with a load of goodies to go, merch, vouchers, and even a personalise yourself dry robe!! (which conveniently Connor (pres) won ๐คจ๐คจ.
The Katie Locke Award was presented, which is given to the SUCCer who has gone above and beyond for the club. Katie was a brilliant member of SUCC, who sadly passed away, and her parents created this fund in her memory. This year Euan Donovan-Hill ( )won the award. Euan is a bubbly kind SUCCer, who always has a smile on his face, and happy to help in SUCC, he has been a member of the club for quite a few years now ( ). He is an excellent leader on rivers, always helpful at pool sessions, and an icon at the annual abba socials ๐. Congratulations Euan!
Thank you to all of the 2023-2024 committee, and good luck to the 2024-2025 committee! Credits to most the pictures to and ๐
Hope to see you all soon, and good luck with your exams ๐.

Welcome back!
This week we are returning with our usual pool sessions, a weir session on Wednesday afternoon, and a s**t shirt social on Wednesday evening.
With exams coming up, it's important to remember to look after your physical and mental wellbeing. Luckily, kayaking is a great way to do both :)
SUCC love
Hello hello and welcome to another (spooky) week of SUCCing! ๐ป
We have a very classic SUCC week ahead of us as we recover from October Dart, with pool sessions running as usual on Monday and Thursday, and a flatwater session on Wednesday afternoon. This session will be followed by some chill Jackbox games and a huge game of Werewolves - If you don't know what this is, come and find out!
SUCC love and happy Halloween ๐งก
Happy Monday!
Hope you've had a great weekend. This week, we have the usual pool sessions on Monday and Thursday along with a weir session on Wednesday (see Bill's post in the Facebook group to find out exactly when signups are). If you haven't been to a weir session yet and wish to come on October Dart, you MUST go to this session!
One of the favourite events in the SUCC calendar is the safety talk and Halloween social taking place on Wednesday from 19:30. Get dressed up and come to building 58, room 1067 (the big lecture theatre) to learn all about river safety (don't worry - it's very fun).
If you wish to go on ANY trip this year, attendance at safety talk is mandatory! If for whatever reason you can't make it, please message Ted as soon as possible.
Finally, we have our first river trip of the year this week. We will set off from the University Watersports Centre (boathard) on Friday and return Sunday evening.

Happy Monday! This week we have pool sessions as usual on Monday, 9-10pm at the Jubilee Sports Centre. Hang around afterwards if you want to join us for a chill pint!
We will be running the first weir session of the year on Wednesday from 3pm at the Boathard (University Watersports Centre). This is open to beginners, we only ask that you have been to a pool session before for a spraydeck test.
Our social this week is on Thursday instead of Wednesday, because we are joining up with SUCP (Canoe Polo) for an epic game of manhunt!
Current members are welcome to go to the pool instead on Thursday, but no coaching will be available for beginners. If you need to go to the session on Thursday because you are going to Perranporth, please let Alex Wilson know.
Unless this is your first ever session with the club, you will now require club membership to attend sessions (https://www.susu.org/groups/canoe). Make sure to get it soon so you don't miss the Freshers discount. The Sports Pass is also required, more info about the different membership types can be found here: https://www.southampton.ac.uk/sport/memberships/student
This week we have our two pool tasters at Jubilee, which are free to attend! Just remember to sign up on our Freshers page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/sucanoeclub.freshers.2324) and on Southampton Sport to get through the gates (joinin.soton.ac.uk). On Wednesday we have the first river session of the year at 2pm - sign up on the page - and later on we have our welcome talk followed by a white T-shirt social. Please remember to either bring ยฃ2 for a white T-shirt or transfer the money to our bank account:

We will also have a BBQ running throughout, will vegan / veggie options available. Thanks to the amazing team at , we will also have plenty of drinks for all your caffeine needs.
Can't make it? Don't worry - We will also be running pool tasters this week. Keep an eye on this page for more info!

When? Thursday 28th September, 10:30-16:30
Where? Jubilee Sports Hall (enter via the large north-facing doors, down the ramp)
Here's a little of what we got up to over the summer. We went camping and surfing in Wales, expelled plenty of energy at the New Forest Aqua Park, and had a sunny day out at Cardiff International Whitewater Centre!
If any of this sounds like something you might be interested in, come along to our taster sessions and give it a go!
It's a busy week for our coaches and coaches-in-training, with two evenings in the pool and a whole weekend out on the river (quite possibly a pizza order too)! This does of course mean that there will be no normal pool activity.
Hope you have a great week!
