🟡⚫️FINAL SCORE⚫️🟡
Wimpson 2 Shield 1
We made it 4 wins in a row this afternoon with a dominant display over Shield at Baddesley Rec. In a game where we penned our opponents in for large spells of the game, it wouldn’t have been unjust for us to have notched up a victory far greater than the scoreline suggests.
Having been aggressive from the off we settled in to our rhythm early on and forced the Shield keeper in to a few saves before winning our first corner on the left. Prince swung the ball in and was flapped at by the keeper; Kelly was quickest to react and fired in at the back post for his first of the season.
The circumstances in which Shield equalised can only be described as baffling. Having shanked a corner in to the side netting, the ball went through a hole and in to the net. With everybody from both sides setting up for a goal kick, the referee somehow adjudged the ball to have stayed in play and gone through the keepers hands and awarded Shield an undeserved goal on the stroke of half time.
A change of personnel at half time saw Boucher introduced and within 10 minutes he was on the scoresheet. A deep corner from Hoey was headed back across goal and Boucher was on hand to head home to restore our lead. Motteram was a spectator for the remainder of the game as the yellows piled on the pressure but somehow didn’t find the net again.
Some outstanding performances today but Alfie Hill takes the MOTM with his work rate and quality on the ball. 90 minutes of having the right back on skates.
3 points on the board is all that matters as we move up to second in the table. Our attention now turns to cup matters as we head to Fryern Rec next Saturday to face Chandlers Ford in the Quarter Final

🟡⚫️FINAL SCORE⚫️🟡
Wimpson 4 Sherfield English Reserves 3
Not at our best this afternoon but we kept grafting until the final whistle and for the second week in a row we take all 3 points in the dying minutes
We came out of the blocks quickly with Harris playing a through ball for Drury who rounded the keeper and squeezed the ball past the retreating defender for his first of the day. Despite the opposition keeper being sent off we went in to half time 2-1 down. The boys regrouped and began the second half in similar fashion to the first as Gray was played in by Hoey and finished smartly to get us back on level terms. Almost immediately Sherfield retook the lead from a lapse in concentration at the back. We continued to apply pressure and the ever lively Gray was causing problems for the back line and broke through with 7 minutes remaining before being brought down in the area as he was about to pull the trigger. Drury stepped up and dispatched the penalty to level the game at 3-3. We threw everybody forward looking for the winner and MOTM Gray was again the instigator in our attack with a mazy run down the left before cutting back to Hoey. The striker beat his man to the byline and picked out Aftab 3 yards out who finished with ease and secured the win. A hard fought game but we got our just rewards and make it 3 wins on the spin
We’re on the road again next week where we travel to Baddesley Rec to take on Shield
