Match Report: Solent Sports Vets 3-0 Michelmersh Reserves
Date: 9th November 2024
Kickoff: 2:30 PM
The match kicked off with a warm moment, as Solent Sports Vets gathered to sing happy birthday to Mark’s wife, who was there to support the team on her special day. Spirits were high as Solent looked to continue their unbeaten run and complete a season double over Michelmersh Reserves.
However, the game got off to an unexpected start. Just ten seconds in, key player Nick pulled up with a hamstring injury, forcing an early substitution. Solent quickly regrouped and poured on the pressure with fantastic teamwork. The defense, rock-solid throughout, initiated much of the attacking play. Mags controlled the midfield, and Shane created trouble up top for Michelmersh’s defense. Despite multiple chances, Solent struggled to convert until a brilliant play saw Shane weave past a defender, setting up Randall for an unstoppable strike. The keeper had no chance as Randall’s rocket made it 1-0 to Solent.
Michelmersh responded with a good spell of play, but Solent’s defense stayed firm. When a loose ball fell to Michelmersh’s number 8, just three yards from the goal, the crowd gasped. Somehow, he missed, much to the relief of the Solent supporters.
The first half ended with Solent in the lead but needing a sharper edge in front of goal. After a stern talk from the manager, Solent came out in the second half determined to finish the game off.
Solent continued to push forward, with Forshaw having a blast advancing from defense. Then, a scrappy midfield battle saw Bramwell hustle Michelmersh’s midfield, securing possession and laying off the ball to Randall. Randall unleashed what might be one of the finest goals ever seen in Vets football: a blistering 30+ yard rocket that hit the crossbar, bounced down to the floor, clipped the bar again, and nestled in the back of the net. An absolute screamer that had everyone in awe. 2-0 Solent.
Another chance for Solent, a beautifully taken corner met by Duncan looked certain to mate it 3-0 was cleared oof the line
Michelmersh had another brief spell of possession, but Duncan and Jamie in Solent’s defense were impenetrable, thwarting every attack. Any rare breakthroughs were confidently handled by Mark in goal, who preserved the clean sheet.
As the game neared its end, Solent was awarded a penalty. Randall calmly stepped up and buried it, completing his first hat-trick of the season and sealing the game at 3-0.
Final Score: Solent Sports Vets 3-0 Michelmersh Reserves
Man of the Match: Luke Randall
Randall’s performance was outstanding. Not only did he score a hat-trick, but his relentless energy and skillful play kept Solent in control all game.
An honorable mention goes to Solent’s chairman, who chose not to charge the veo so Randall’s will never see his incredible second goal.
Another clean sheet for the defense rounds off a superb team performance.

It was derby day, and the atmosphere was electric as Solent Sports Hamble Vets faced their local rivals Solent Sports Waterside Vets. Both teams were eager to claim bragging rights, but it was Hamble who dominated from start to finish, putting in a performance to remember.
Hamble wasted no time getting on the front foot, and an early free kick was quickly taken by Nick. His inch-perfect ball found Bramwell, who, in a moment of brilliance, backheeled the ball over his own head and the keeper’s to put Hamble 1-0 up. The crowd couldn’t believe what they had just witnessed.

Nick’s return to the pitch restored Hamble’s dominance, and they looked certain to add to their lead. Bramwell thought he had completed his hat-trick with a stunning 25-yard strike into the top corner, only for it to be ruled offside in a very debatable decision.
Hamble weren’t done yet. Mark, the Hamble goalkeeper, played yet another pinpoint pass to Bramwell, who was brought down on the edge of the box. Taking the resulting free kick himself, Bramwell wrong-footed the keeper and calmly slotted the ball into the right corner, finally sealing his hat-trick and making it 5-0.
The final nail in Waterside’s coffin came when Ricco received the ball out wide. From an outrageous angle, he lobbed the keeper with a sublime finish, making it 6-0 and capping off a record-breaking performance for Hamble.
Hamble’s defense, led by Duncan and Garrett, was rock solid all game, giving Waterside no opportunities. Duncan taking the game to waterside, even going on a 60 yard run with the ball, Garrett beating his chest and rallying the team to keep their clean sheet intact a well deserved one at that.

Match Report: SSFC Hamble Vets 3-1 Michelmersh and Tim Vets Reserves
Date: 12th October 2024
Kickoff: 2:30 PM
SSFC Hamble Vets secured another impressive victory, making it two wins on the bounce, with a 3-1 triumph over Michelmersh and Tim Vets Reserves. Hamble came out strong, immediately putting Michelmersh under pressure. The midfield dominated the opening exchanges, creating wave after wave of attacks that made a goal seem inevitable.
The breakthrough came when Luke Randall picked up the ball near the halfway line and delivered a lofted through ball that Kevin De Bruyne himself would have been proud of. Gio met the pass on the bounce and struck a stunning left-footed volley that gave the keeper no chance, putting Hamble Vets 1-0 up.
Solent continued to press, and it wasn’t long before they doubled their lead. From a corner, Ingolfur brought the ball down with expert control before laying it off to Bramwell, who smashed it into the back of the net. The Michelmersh goalkeeper was left helpless once again. Despite relentless pressure from Solent and several close calls, including a couple of goal-line clearances, the first half ended 2-0.
The second half started much like the first, with Hamble dominating possession. Gio and Nick terrorized Michelmersh’s defense, particularly down the left-hand side, showcasing some excellent link-up play. Nick found himself one-on-one with the keeper but selflessly squared the ball to Jamie Goodson, who calmly slotted home to make it 3-0.
In one of the few moments of humor in the match, Solent goalkeeper Mark, with little to do all game, launched a long ball forward to Bramwell. With plenty of space and only the last defender to beat, Bramwell attempted a shot but sent the ball into orbit—a shocking miss that had the crowd laughing, with some saying he’s still looking for the ball.
Against the run of play, Michelmersh grabbed a goal out of nowhere, making it 3-1. Buoyed by the goal, they started to gain some confidence, hitting the crossbar from a corner and missing a crucial one-on-one opportunity. However, Solent’s tactical adjustments saw them regain control, with chance after chance being created. Shane came close to adding a fourth with a skillful lob over the keeper, but the ball narrowly missed the post.
The game finished 3-1 to Solent Vets, with the defense remaining solid throughout, despite the unfortunate goal conceded.

Date: 5th October 2024
Kickoff: 2:30 PM
SSFC Hamble Vets secured a well-earned victory against Durley Vets in a thrilling match, with debutant Bramwell shining throughout. The game kicked off with SSFC Hamble on the front foot, largely thanks to striker Dan, who constantly troubled the Durley defense. Despite his best efforts, Durley’s goalkeeper put on an impressive display, making several crucial saves, while a few shots narrowly missed the target.
As the first half progressed, it seemed a goal was inevitable, and just before half-time, it finally came. Forshaw played a perfectly timed pass to Bramwell, who danced his way past four desperate Durley defenders. With composure, he chipped the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper, but not before getting taken out, ending up in the back of the net alongside the ball. This spectacular moment saw SSFC Hamble take a 1-0 lead into the break.
Durley came out fighting in the second half and capitalized on two unfortunate mistakes from SSFC Hamble, turning the game around to lead 2-1. However, tactical substitutions saw nick, Forshaw and Bramwell reintroduced, which immediately shifted the momentum back in Solent’s favor.
Bramwell, picking up the ball on the edge of the box, turned inside and curled a superb shot into the top right corner to level the score at 2-2. Solent continued to press, and their dominance paid off when Julio delivered a perfectly placed through ball, which Bramwell flicked on to Randal. Showing great composure, Randal dribbled past both a defender and the goalkeeper to slot the ball home, putting Solent 3-2 up.
As the game drew to a close, Bramwell had a chance to seal his hat trick when Nick set him up. He beat the defender, but Durley’s keeper made an incredible save to deny him. In the dying moments, Durley’s captain unleashed a 30-yard volley destined for the top corner, only for Mark, Solent’s goalkeeper, to produce a stunning save to secure the victory.
