What a fantastic day we had today to celebrate our 60th anniversary.

The members t**e to the sea on the gorgeous ship Steamship Shieldhall we sailed down the Southampton waters to the Isle of Wight cruising along at 9 knots passing cruise ships and having a h***y sound off with them all.

We had two of our original SMRS members Ian Wilkins who joined in 1968 and David D'Arcys who joined in 1966 joining when the club was only 4 months old cut our anniversary cake as we though it was fitting being the longest standing members.
Sadly we have lost members over the years and they are missed dearly and often talked about and there time with us I hope there familys no how much they meant to our club.
So it was lovely to celebrate this milestone with all the fantastic members we have now 60yrs on. Here is a few pictures from today of our celebration.
Here is to another 60yrs and hopefully our junior membership will be following in our foot steps .

Hi everyone just a update on what's been going on at the club.
We have had an invite to a private show with our great o gauge layout Netherton . We have been lightly weathering the layout along with planting some static grass to make this super layout just that bit more realistic. LEDs have been wired into the storage roads to instantly see if power is present . This layout will be on public show next at the Guildford o gauge trade show at the end of November.

We have exciting news for you all.
We are having our club open day again this year!!!! 🚆 So if your interested to find out what we are all about then please pop on down!
We welcome new members.
Our members will have there stock out on our club permanent layouts and will be N and 0 (operating or display) and Iv been told that the ladies of the club are backing cakes as well so cakes and refreshments are available to purchase on the day.

So save the date on your phone, calendar, postit note on your fridge, 🤗
