Great result Sam! Well done and a huge congratulations to 4th!
🚨 Sam arrived 4th place in Cherbourg after the La Drheam-Cup Destination Cotentin in 4 days 3 hours and 33 min !
A complete race with lots happening and not much time for sleeping. Ups and downs for me u but lots to take away and think about ahead of the Route du Rhum. The next time we will race against each other.

📣Moving again!! It was a long night of shifty winds and then no wind with a parking lot this morning. Everybody hoping the wind gods would pick them first. My tactical option from monday evening (along the coast after the start) didn't pay off but I have managed to come back into the fleet not too far back form the leading pack. The spinnaker just went up and there is some wind again. Once things are settled down its time to catch up on some sleep. 180miles with the spinnaker to the Fastnet Rock.
Ca bouge encore !! La nuit a été longue avec des vents instables et ce matin un parking... Chacun espère être choisi en premier par les dieux du vent ! Mon option tactique de lundi soir (longer la côté après le départ) n’a pas été payante mais j’ai réussi à revenir dans la flotte et proche du peloton de tête. Le spinnaker est en place et le vent semble revenir. Tout cela réglé, il est temps de dormir. 180 milles avec le Spinnaker jusqu' au Fastnet Rock.

Into day 2 of the Drheam Cup and as expected it's been pretty tricky. The wind is very unstable so there always something to do, trimming the sails, moving the weight around the boat and changing between the code 0 and the jib. There is a big split in the fleet so it's difficult to be sure how we will be doing when we converge. For now the priortiy is staying in front of the guys around me - commplicated as we are rarely sailing in the same wind - and time will tell if we've come the right way. Otherwise its hot and sunny with lots of dolphins. A apert from not a lot of sleep the boat and myself are on good form.

L’instabilité du vent m’oblige à être toujours en action : rabattre les voiles... il y a une grosse fissure dans la flotte, c'est difficile de savoir comment ça va évoluer quand on va tous se rejoindre. L’important pour le moment c’est de rester devant les autres, même si c'est compliqué. Nous naviguons avec le même vent, difficile de savoir si nous suivons la bonne direction. Enfin, il fait chaud, il y a du soleil et des dauphins ! Et même si nous ne dormons pas beaucoup le bateau et moi tenons la forme !

📣Drifty start to the La Drheam-Cup Destination Cotentin. I had a false start and had to return the line again. Fortunately it got better and I leaft Quiberon bay in the lead. Now got 2 days to go to the next mark- Fastnet Rock. Mostly upwind.
Départ tranquille à la La Drheam-Cup Destination Cotentin. J'ai fait un faux départ et j'ai du recouper la ligne. Heureusement, cela s'est arrangé par la suite et j'ai pu quitter la baie de Quiberon en tête. Dans deux jours je serais normalement à la prochaine balise - Le Fastnet Rock. Surtout au près.

📣Happy to have finished ! It's been a long one ! Obviously disappointed by the result after playing catch up from missing the Isle of Wight tide gate. But really happy with the rest for our first double handed race ! We're claiming victory for our second category after tide gate ! Is that allowed ? 😉
No but really well done to Phil Sharp and Julien - looked like a great race from back here ! Hopefully we can join in next time !
📣Content d'avoir fini ! Cela a été long ! Clairement déçus par le résultat après avoir essayé de rattraper le re**rd suite à note entrée ratée à l'île de Wight. Mais vraiment content du reste du parcours pour notre première course en double ! Avons nous le droit de revendiquer la victoire en deuxième catégorie après le passage de l'écluse ? 😉
Bravo à Phil Sharp et Julien ! De derrière, la course avait l'air belle ! Nous espérons pouvoir jouer la même partie la prochaine fois.

"The wind is up and the sun is out been making great progress all afternoon pointing straight at the next mark. Had a bad morning after leaving Gijon where I made 2 bad sail choices so was sailing for over an hour with the wrong sail as I anticipated the wind shift earlier. Aymeric played it really nicely and gained loads! - and now he's going real quick. Ive got the pilot steering which seems to be the best option st this wind angle. It's fairly stable so had some time to catch up on tidying up the boat, eating some proper food and getting some rest! It's the first time since the start I've been able to sleep 20minutes non stop with no wind alarm going off. All good onboard All In! Just need to find a way of catching Aymeric! ;)"
"Le vent s’est levé et le soleil a disparu, nous naviguons donc à toute vitesse vers le prochain point de passage. J’ai eu une matinée plutôt difficile après avoir quitté Gijon avec deux erreurs de navigation. J’ai donc navigué une heure avec la mauvaise configuration car j’ai trop anticipé la levée du vent. La navigation d’Aymeric est très intéressante, il file à toute vitesse. J’ai mis le pilote directionnel, la meilleure option avec ce vent. C’est relativement stable donc j’ai le temps de ranger le bateau, manger et faire quelques siestes. C’est la première fois depuis le départ que j’ai pu dormir 20 minutes sans être réveillé par l’alarme de changement de vent. Tout va bien à bord, je dois juste trouver un moyen de rattraper Aymeric ! ;)"

Finalement sorti de Gijón ! Après ça, il a fallu rattraper du sommeil car il a été impossible de dormir sous spi, dans les petits airs. Trop de travail. Ça a fait du bien, hier, d’obtenir un nouveau fichier météo et de voir que le parcours avait été modifié. Ça a fait du bien aussi de constater qu’en tête, on avait réussi à grappiller quelques milles sur le reste de la flotte. Maintenant, c’est parti pour du reaching vers le nord avec mes deux copains !

Nice 2nd day at sea with steady winds. Eating and steering lots and trying to get some rest so we can be ready for any surprises the Spanish coast has got for us! Still stuck to my 2 other buddies. Had no position updates since the start so looking forward to being able to get an update on if we're fighting for first or last! Also to see what's changed on the weather for going north.
2ème jour très agréable sur la mer avec un vent stable. Je mange et pilote beaucoup, j'essaye de garder de l'énergie, on ne sait jamais ce que la côte espagnole nous réserve. Je suis toujours avec mes deux camarades. Je ne sais pas à quelle place je suis depuis le début, la mise à jour ne fonctionne pas, donc je ne sais pas si je me bats pour la première ou dernière place. Attendons de voir ce que la météo nous réserve quand nous allons prendre la direction Nord.

"Exciting to get out of Les Sables - not a perfect start but managed to make the best of it in the end. All is going well on board learning quickly with different sails and configurations. It's nice to be near Aymeric and Phil who are 2 of the best guys on the circuit. I know if I can stay with them it's not going too badly. Difficult to know when to rest but we've got the big kites up now so going to see what I can do. Looking at a gybe early morning tomorrow."

"Très excité d'avoir quitté les Sables d'Olonne. Ce n'est pas le départ idéal mais j'ai réussi à en tirer le meilleur. Tout va bien, j'apprends vite les différentes possibilités de navigation. C'est super d'être aux côtés d'Aymeric et Phil, deux grands champions du circuit. En restant proche d'eux, tout devrait bien se passer. Difficile de savoir quand je pourrai me reposer mais nous avons les grands vents maintenant donc on verra bien. Je me prépare à faire un empannage tôt demain matin."
