Congratulations to our Ladies 2nd Team, smashing it this summer. 5 matches played, 5 won. They have only dropped 2 rubbers all summer. Promotion achieved in such style.

Lovely afternoon at the Warsash Strawberry Fields Festival. Many thanks to Frair for introducing us to Darren and his magnificent gazebo! Sarah, Roger, Trev Spence, Jan Grant and I had a very successful afternoon. We almost sold out of all the bottles donated from our members. Connor was really helpful in helping the youngsters with a makeshift tennis area. A few possible newbies for the club including the winner of the tennis lesson with Jake. New system used on the stall as shared by Helen Rawlins from Locks Heath Cricket Club - brilliant!

An update on Portsmouth league week-end fixtures

Warsash ladies teams have started the season in style!
Ladies 2 in Div 2 have played 2/6 matches. The first match vs Ryde Lawn 1 delivered an exact draw (2/2 4/4 24/24) whilst the team won their second match today.
Ladies 3 in Div 4 have played 2/7 matches. The team is unbeaten to-date but there is still a long way to go!

The Mens have 4 teams in the Portsmouth league, 2 in Division 1 and 2 in division 5!
Warsash 1 in Division 1 have played 2/6 matches and are unbeaten to-date. They achieve an amazing win vs Court X 1, which has increased the odd of finishing top!
Warsash 2 was promoted to Division 1 this summer after winning the division 2 last summer. The step up is challenging and they lost their 2/6 matches played.

At the other end of the league, Div 5 sees both Warsash 3 and 4 fighting it out. Warsash 3 was relegated this summer after a season which many injuries. But the team has so far won their 3 matches. On the other hand, Warsash 4 has lost their 3 matches. A total of 6 matches are to be played.

Finally, we have 2 teams in the Mixed league. In Mixed Div 1, Warsash 1 has only played 1 match so far (vs Court X), which they won convincingly. In Mixed Div 2 however, Warsash 2 is struggling with 3 played and 3 lost.

Warsash Tennis Club is planning to be at the 2026 Warsash Summer Fair. You could help be donating a bottle (or two) to raise funds for our club. Bottles can be dropped off at the clubhouse in the provided containers. All accepted (in date) from shampoo to unwanted bottles that are just taking up room at home.

If yesterday’s Solent Cup win wasn’t enough for Warsash Ladies this weekend… our intrepid National League team went to Bracknell early today for a 10am start. Magnificently went 3-1 up after the singles round but Bracknell fought back in the doubles rubbers to make it 3-3.
It then went to an exciting ‘Shoot Out’ scenario to decide the match. Georgie Bartholomew and Jo-Anne Downing brilliantly completed their marathon weekend by winning their singles tiebreaks and getting us the win!
What superstars ! Time to go back to work for a rest tomorrow ladies 🤩

Congratulations to our wonderful Warsash ladies team Georgie Bartholomew Jo-Anne Downing Martina Kozuh and Liz Sherwood who won the mighty Solent Cup yesterday!
They battled strong winds and a tough Wi******er side bringing the trophy home for the club, representing the Portsmouth & District league.
This is the first time our Ladies team have conquered the contest between the Portsmouth and Southampton league winners and hope it is the first of many - but hopefully on not such a windy day next time !

We are looking forward to our Ladies 1st team playing in the Solent Cup this coming Saturday. If anyone would like to support them the matches start at 11am at Thornden Tennis Club.
