Footwork is EVERYTHING. π₯
Speed isnβt just about how fast you can runβitβs about how quickly you can stop, change direction, and explode into space. π¨π
This drill focuses on:
β
Sharp change of direction
β
Roll outs & flip outs
β
Fast feet
β
Balance and body control
β
Explosive acceleration
Mastering your footwork allows you to create separation from defenders, attack space with confidence, and react quicker in game situations.
Rememberβ¦ fast feet create fast players! π£β‘
Give this drill a go and let us know how many quality reps you can complete! πͺ

π₯ ATTACK vs DEFENCE TAIL TAG π₯
All you need is 5 athletes, 1 ball and a bib to create a fun, competitive game that develops both attacking and defensive skills!
π How it works:
πΉ The attacker tucks a bib into their shorts/leggings like a tail.
πΉ When the attacker has the ball, they are SAFE.
πΉ As soon as they release the ball, the defender becomes active and can try to steal the tail.
πΉ The attacker must receive a pass from each post and keep their tail intact to win.
πΉ The defender scores a point every time they steal the bib and needs 3 steals to win the game.
β¬οΈ Progressions
β
Allow the defender to hunt for interceptions.
β
Increase the size of the area to challenge decision-making and timing.
π‘ Why we love this drill:
For attackers, it encourages:
β‘ Speed onto the ball
π Change of direction
π Effective rolling and re-offer movements
For defenders, it develops:
π£ Stepping up and towards the attacker
ποΈ Timing and pressure
π Intercepting opportunities
Simple setup, high intensity and plenty of competition! π₯
In this clip, you can see at the start the speed of the attacked and the quick ball distribution from the feeders enables her to keep possession of the tail.
In this clip, any sort of hesitation allows the defender to step up and towards and as a result the defender steals the bib. We want the attacker to be ruthless in those drives into space or towards the ball carrier.
Successful defence here by the player stepping up and towards the attacker. You can then look of body positions and get the defender dictating the attacker no ball side so they can win the interception.
Sorry Daisy, we had to post this as it was a great roll. π
