Sometimes the plan has to change… and that’s where experience matters. 💪
Lisa, who is a competing powerlifter, came in for her session this morning. We’ve been working our way towards achieving her first pull-up, so that was the plan for today.
However, Lisa was experiencing some pain, so rather than simply pushing through and sticking rigidly to the programme, I changed the plan and assessed what was going on.
Using my knowledge of biomechanics and movement, I identified an imbalance through her glutes that was contributing to the issue.
We then worked on:
🔹 Self-myofascial release
🔹 Assisted stretching
🔹 Corrective exercises
🔹 Movement re-education
This is where experience and knowledge really matter.
As a coach, I don’t believe in simply taking someone through a pre-written workout regardless of what their body is telling us. I assess, identify the problem and adapt the session accordingly.
With my extensive knowledge and experience in biomechanics, strength training and corrective exercise, I’m able to troubleshoot movement issues and make the necessary changes to keep clients progressing towards their goals.
Lisa is a strong athlete and a competing powerlifter — so the goal isn’t just to get her through a session. It’s to help her train effectively, address weaknesses and continue progressing without unnecessarily aggravating an issue.
The first pull-up is still the goal. We’re just taking the right route to get there. 💪
Assess. Adapt. Correct. Progress.

🥊 BOXING ISN’T JUST FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO FIGHT.
You don’t need to want to step into a ring to train boxing.
In fact, boxing is for everyone.
It’s an incredible way to improve your fitness, build strength, develop coordination, improve your cardio and burn some serious calories — all while having fun.
But one of the biggest things I love about boxing?
How it makes you feel afterwards.
You finish a session sweaty, tired, accomplished… and absolutely buzzing. ⚡️
There’s something about hitting the pads, working combinations, moving your feet and pushing yourself that switches your brain off from everything else.
For that hour, it’s just you, the pads and the next combination.
Whether you’re looking to: 🥊 Get fitter
🥊 Lose body fat
🥊 Build strength & conditioning
🥊 Improve coordination & movement
🥊 Relieve stress
🥊 Build confidence
🥊 Or simply try something different…
Boxing can be for you.
You don’t have to be a fighter.
You just have to be willing to give it a go.
Come and have a session, learn the basics, hit some pads and see how you feel afterwards.
I guarantee you’ll leave buzzing. 🥊🔥

✨ Why assisted stretching matters — even when you know your body inside out! ✨
Grace is a personal trainer and triathlete, so she already understands the importance of mobility, recovery and looking after her body. But even with all that knowledge, sometimes you need someone else to help you access those areas you simply can’t reach effectively on your own.
With swimming, cycling, running and strength training all placing different demands on the body, assisted stretching can be a great way to complement her training.
💫 For Grace, assisted stretching can help to: • Improve mobility and flexibility
• Reduce muscular tightness and restriction
• Support better movement quality
• Give the body dedicated recovery time
• Help maintain healthy range of motion
• Complement her training and recovery routine
It’s not about stretching because something is “wrong” — it’s about being proactive and giving your body the attention it deserves when you’re asking so much from it.
As a triathlete, Grace needs her body to move efficiently across three very different disciplines. Assisted stretching is one more tool in her toolkit to help her stay mobile, move well and support her training.
And sometimes, even when you know exactly what your body needs… it’s nice to have someone else do the stretching for you! 🙌🏼

Assisted stretching is 45 pounds from your home or 40 pounds from gym for 45 minute stretch

I work from Ares Tactical Concepts gym

I am professionaly trained please do not try to recreate stretches as cause injury if not done correctly

Assisted Stretching & PNF: More Than Just Flexibility 💪
Today I had the pleasure of working with gym owner Damien, using assisted stretching and PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) techniques to help address restrictions through his shoulder and thoracic spine.
Assisted stretching can be a great tool for improving mobility, flexibility and range of movement, while PNF techniques can help the body access greater ranges of motion in a controlled way.
For people dealing with movement restrictions, stiffness or returning from injury, these techniques can be a valuable part of a broader rehabilitation and mobility programme — helping restore movement and improve how the body functions.
Great session today, Damien! 💪
Move better. Move freely. Perform better.

Tight hips?
Stiff shoulders?
Lower back niggles?
Poor posture?
Limited mobility?

Hours spent sitting at a desk, commuting, looking at screens and generally moving less can create limitations that affect how your body moves, feels and performs.

That’s where I come in.

Sometimes being a PT can come with an expectation that I should always look “toned”, defined and like I have everything figured out when it comes to my body.
But the reality is, I’m human too.
If I have a couple of days off — maybe a weekend away, eating foods I wouldn’t normally eat as strictly, having a few drinks and simply enjoying myself — I can notice a difference in my body almost immediately.
My muscles might not look as defined. My stomach might feel softer. I might hold more water and look completely different from how I did a few days before.
And sometimes, that can mess with your head.
It’s made me understand much more deeply how people can feel negatively about their bodies and why body image can be such a difficult thing to navigate.
Because we live in a world where we’re constantly shown “perfect” bodies on screens. Poses, lighting, angles, filters, editing, pump, dehydration, genetics… so many things can create an unrealistic picture of what a body is supposed to look like.
Then there’s the pressure of thinking that because I’m a PT, I should somehow always look a certain way.
But why?
My body is allowed to fluctuate.
I’m allowed to relax.
I’m allowed to enjoy food and drinks.
I’m allowed to have days where fitness isn’t the priority.
And so are you.
One weekend, one meal, a few drinks or a couple of days away from your usual routine hasn’t undone your progress.
Often what you’re seeing afterwards is simply your body responding to changes in food, alcohol, carbohydrates, sodium, digestion and hydration — not your body suddenly becoming a completely different body.
Being a PT doesn’t mean I never have insecurities or temptations. It means I understand how difficult it can be to balance wanting to look a certain way with actually wanting to live your life.
And honestly, I think that makes me more empathetic to the people I work with.
You don’t have to earn your food.
You don’t have to punish yourself for enjoying yourself.
And you don’t have to look “perfect” every day to be healthy, fit or worthy.
We’re all human. 💛

Consistency > Motivation
You won’t always feel like training.
Some days you’ll be tired.
Some days work has been stressful.
Some days the sofa will sound like a much better idea. 😅
But that’s exactly why consistency matters.
You don’t need to feel motivated every time you train. You just need to turn up and do what you can.
One workout might not change your body.
One healthy meal might not change your health.
But repeating those small actions, week after week, absolutely can.
The goal isn’t perfection. It’s consistency.
So if you’re not feeling it today, don’t worry about having your best session. Just get started.
Even a 30-minute workout is better than the workout you didn’t do. 💪
Keep showing up. Your future self will thank you.
