A Few Words from the Youth Secretary – Claire Yeo

What a season, 2025/26 was for our youth section!
It has been fantastic to see our players, coaches, managers and volunteers continue to grow, develop and represent White Ensign with such pride and enthusiasm.
A huge congratulations to our U11 Red and U16 White teams, who both reached their respective cup finals. To see two of our teams make it that far is a fantastic achievement and something everyone at the club can be incredibly proud of.
I would also like to take a moment to say a very special thank you to all the volunteers who have stepped up to help run our youth section this season. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. I truly couldn’t do it without each and every one of you. The time, effort and commitment you give to the club does not go unnoticed.
We all want the same outcome — for our children to love their football and enjoy it in a fantastic environment. That is at the heart of everything we are trying to achieve, and I’m incredibly proud of the team we have around us.
One area we are particularly passionate about at White Ensign is making sure football is truly a game for everyone. We firmly believe that everyone should have the chance to play football, regardless of their individual needs or circumstances.
With this in mind, we have arranged for all of our coaches and managers to attend a dedicated session on coaching neurodiverse players. This is an important step in continuing to educate and support our coaching team, ensuring they have the understanding, confidence and tools to create an inclusive environment where every player can enjoy their football and reach their potential.
We’re also delighted to welcome some fantastic new volunteers to our Youth Committee:
* Dean Lindoe – Development Officer for the Minis
* Mark Gore – Development Officer for the Juniors
* Darren Hodgson – Coaching Development & Inclusion Lead
* Emma Bellinger – Inclusion Officer & Head of Fundraising Committee
* Jacqueline Ebner – Assistant Welfare Officer
Their commitment and support will be invaluable as we continue to develop our youth section and build an even stronger, more inclusive football environment.
As we look ahead to the 2026/27 season, we’re entering an incredibly exciting new chapter with our big move to Garons. With fantastic facilities, this will provide our players and coaches with an excellent environment to train, develop and enjoy their football.
We’re also incredibly proud to be going into the new season with 21 teams, ranging from U7 through to U18. The continued growth of our youth section is something we should all be hugely proud of and is testament to the hard work of everyone involved.
We already have a number of fundraising events in the diary for the new season, and we hope we can rely on everyone’s continued support to help make these events a huge success. Fundraising is so important to the future of the club and will help us continue to provide the best possible opportunities and facilities for our players.
Finally, I would like to thank every single person who plays a part in White Ensign Youth — our players, coaches, managers, volunteers, committee members, parents and supporters. It really is a team effort, and I feel incredibly lucky to be surrounded by so many people who care so passionately about the club and our children.
There is so much to look forward to, and I’m incredibly excited about what the future holds. Together, we can continue to grow the club, create fantastic opportunities and, most importantly, make sure that every child has the chance to play, enjoy and love football.
Here’s to the memories we’ve made, the exciting new chapter at Garons, and an even bigger and better 2026/27 season!
