A busy weekend of cricket with three wins from five across our senior sides! 🏏

The 1st XI put in a brilliant all-round performance to beat East Hanningfield & Great Burstead by 40 runs. J. Sibbons led the way with a superb 111, supported by K. Butler’s 64, before C. Chambers ripped through the opposition with 5/54.

The 2nd XI made it back-to-back Saturday wins for the club, defending 215 to beat Tillingham CC 2nd XI by 15 runs. J. Imran top-scored with 75, while C. Wood claimed 4/18 and S. Shah added 3/44.

The 3rd XI fell short against Basildon & Pitsea CC 5th XI, losing by 46 runs, with N. Harvey (37) and J. Gilroy (32) leading the batting and J. Kumarasamy taking 3/41.

The 4th XI were beaten by Rayleigh Fairview CC 2nd XI by 8 wickets, despite half-centuries from A. Callaway (60) and W. Spear (55).

Sunday finished the weekend on a high as the Sunday A XI claimed a thrilling 5-wicket victory, chasing 219 with just one ball remaining! K. Butler produced a match-winning unbeaten 83, with S. Sriramajegan and C. Maher both contributing 40.

👏 Three wins, a century, four half-centuries and plenty of standout performances across the weekend.

A brilliant weekend with the bat and three half-centuries to celebrate! 👏

🔥 Joe Sibbons – 98
A superb knock for the 1st XI against Great Totham CC 1st XI, agonisingly close to three figures but a fantastic innings nonetheless.

👏 Cameron Wood – 55
A special moment for Cameron, scoring his maiden adult half-century for the 3rd XI against Navestock CC 2nd XI. The first of many! 💚

💪 Neil Harvey – 67
Another excellent contribution in the same 3rd XI fixture, with Neil putting together a strong 67.

Three quality performances and plenty of runs on the board. Congratulations, lads! 🏏💚

🏏 WEEKEND RESULTS ROUND-UP

A mixed weekend across the club, with some tough results for our Saturday sides but a brilliant victory for the Sirens! 💚

🏏 1st XI – Lost by 6 wickets
Southend posted 201/8 from 45 overs, led by an outstanding 98* from J. Sibbons. Great Totham chased it down, reaching 202/4 in 40.3 overs.

🏏 2nd XI – Lost by 155 runs
Springfield set a commanding 296/8, before Southend were dismissed for 141. M. Elmer top-scored with 44, while A. Sarveswaran (3/32) and T. Norton (3/43) led the bowling effort.

🏏 3rd XI – Lost by 4 wickets
A high-scoring contest saw Southend make an impressive 247/7, with N. Harvey 67, C. Wood 55 and K. Butler 45. Navestock narrowly chased it down at 248/6 in 37.5 overs.

🏏 4th XI – Lost by 6 wickets
Southend made 157/7 from 40 overs, with F. Maher finishing unbeaten on 45*. Horndon on the Hill reached the target at 158/4, with J. Rahman taking 2/40.

🚨 SIRENS – WON BY 8 WICKETS! 🧜‍♀️💚
The highlight of the weekend came from our Women’s XI — the Southend Sirens! Rankins CC Rankin’s Rivermaidens posted 118/3 from 16 overs, before the Sirens produced an excellent chase, racing to 121/2 from 16 overs to secure an emphatic 8-wicket victory! 👏🔥

Plenty of individual performances to take forward and a fantastic result for the Sirens to round off the action.
