PART 2: The Serve Move Most Players Never Learn 🎾⚡
If you watched Part 1, you now know how to get into the correct position.
Now it’s time to release the speed.
✅ Start in the 90/90 position
✅ Bring the racket over your head
✅ Get the elbow up and around so it’s in front of your body
✅ Keep the racket edge-on to the ball
From here, throw up to the ball and pronate.
The frame of the racket should lead towards the ball before rotating so the strings meet the ball at contact.
Many players show the strings too early, losing racket head speed and power.
Stay on edge for longer, then turn the racket through contact.
That’s where effortless pace comes from. 🚀
Save this and follow for Part 3.
PART 3/3: The Missing Piece To Effortless Power 🎾⚡
You’ve got the positions.
You’ve learned to stay on edge.
Now comes the part most players get wrong…
They try too hard.
The harder you squeeze the racket and muscle the serve, the slower the racket head moves.
Instead:
✅ Let the elbow lead the movement
✅ Keep the hand and wrist relaxed
✅ Allow the racket to move freely
✅ Feel the racket whip through the ball
Think of moving the elbow, not forcing the racket.
When the hand stays relaxed, the racket head accelerates naturally and creates effortless power.
The goal isn’t to hit harder.
The goal is to let the racket do the work.
That’s how you create speed, spin and consistency without tension.
These progressions show the majority of the power comes from this move. Get this right before adding it to the full motion for explosive power 🧨
PART 1: The Serve Move That Adds Power & Consistency 🎾💥
At the start of this video I hit 109mph from the half position. This shows that a lot of power comes from this action.
With the full serving motion? 125mph.
The difference isn’t trying harder — it’s moving more efficiently.
✅ Start in the 90/90 position
✅ Let the racket travel over your head as if you’re knocking something off it
✅ Bring the elbow around
✅ Keep the racket on edge
One of the biggest mistakes I see is the “waiter’s serve” where the strings face the sky too early. This kills racket head speed and limits power.
Get this move right and you’ll create more effortless pace while improving consistency.
Save this for your next practice session and follow for Part 2. 🎾
The serve secret nobody talks about… 👀🎾

Quick Grip Guide 🎾
If grips have ever confused you… this will simplify it.
I have numbered the racket 1–8 (there are 8 bevels). For a right-handed player, grips 1–5 are your key reference points.
Left-handed players — same grips, just mirrored:
2 = 8
3 = 7
4 = 6
1 and 5 stay the same
Here’s the simple way to think about it 👇
Each number represents a different grip. If you can learn where your hand sits on these numbers, you can quickly check and adjust without overthinking it mid-rally.
Why this matters:
Your grip directly affects control, spin, and direction. The wrong grip often leads to inconsistency without you realising why.
Quick tip:
Before you hit, take a split second to check where your hand is sitting on the handle. Small adjustment = big difference. Just don’t do this in a match during a rally. Before serving and returning is ok.
Save this so you can refer back to it on court.
If you’re not sure what grip you’re using, drop a comment or send me a message 👊
Consistency Part 3/3 🎾
If your shots are spraying left and right, it’s probably not your swing… it’s your timing.
👉 Too early on contact = ball goes LEFT (for right-handed forehand)
👉 Too late on contact = ball goes RIGHT
(Get this right and everything starts to feel effortless)
For backhands or left-handed players — flip it 👆
2 simple drills to lock this in:
1️⃣ Freeze on contact
Stop your swing right at contact and check your strings
➡️ Are they facing your target or drifting off?
2️⃣ Elbow control drill
Hold your hitting elbow slightly to force contact in front
➡️ Then build in a full follow-through once it feels natural
Small adjustment… big difference in consistency.

Try these next time you’re on court and let me know which one clicks 🔥

Consistency Part 2/3 🎾
Ever feel like you’re striking the ball well… but it just keeps sailing long? 🚀
This came from a recent lesson where this exact issue kept showing up. The good news? It’s usually a simple fix 👇
🔧 Quick checks if you’re hitting long:
👉 Grip
Aim for a semi-western on the forehand. If you’re too eastern/ continental, you might struggle to control height and spin.
👉 Contact Point
Focus on hitting the back of the ball and sending it forwards ➡️
If you’re getting under it, you’re naturally going to lift it too much and lose control.
👉 Racket Face Awareness
Think of your racket as a “face” — wherever it’s pointing, that’s where the ball is going.
Control the face, control the shot 🎯
Small adjustments = big difference.
