Technical session this morning after fitness on Tuesday night.

Fitness and 5-a-side went really well this week. Hopefully the fitness work will pay off with the lads getting round the pitch effortlessly next season! 🏃 💨 💪🏻⚽️

So, we thought the season was over so have had a break then get an email to say we are playing in a play off for league runner up.

- We haven’t trained or played for weeks because we thought the season was over.
- We could only raise 12 fit players.
- We had an injury which forced our left midfielder to play right back for most of the second half.
- Our GK played with a potentially broken hand for the majority of the second half.

Plenty of things made the game more difficult but I couldn’t have asked more effort from the team - they were fantastic!
We were really unlucky to lose to the odd goal with 2 minutes to go in a closely fought game but that’s the way it is sometimes. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Congratulations to our opponents today, it was a cracking game and really hard fought.

For us, that leads us into summer training to prepare for next season, which bodes well after the fantastic effort from all 12 today.

Once we get our other players back we still have a couple of spaces in our match squad for next year should the right opportunity come along. Training twice a week (one fitness, one technical) should prepare us well for the start of the new season.

Last home game of the season and the sun came out!
Another decent performance moving the ball better at times as one of our targets for improvement. One decent move ended up with the ball at Jesse’s feet just outside the area where he curled a great shot to open the scoring for the match highlight trophy. A fine composed and combative full back MOTM performance from Eddy completed the Halliwell Jones Kia Southport awards for the weekend.

A bit of a thriller for the neutrals this morning. A big last minute from Issak was enough for the Halliwell Jones Kia Southport match highlight trophy and a solid performance from Henry took the MOTM trophy.
Pretty good performance in the first half but it’s definitely work on shooting at training this week! 😂 I’ll go with a positive from a resilience point of view 2nd half.
Two games to go so hoping for a positive end to the season.

Tough game today, but we did really well for most of the game. The soft spells, and two really poor decisions cost us getting closer to a result but there was more progress to be seen towards our end goal.
An amazing turn away from danger in his own box from Henry and a solid all round performance and fantastic awareness to shoot from far out from Tommy were good enough for the Halliwell Jones Kia Southport trophies today.
Some good passing moves, good goal from Issak and competitive performance when we got the shape right. 3 more games to play this season so hopefully finish in style now. 🖤💙🖤💙⚽️

Well done to these 2 for edging out lots of other players in what was a positive all round performance this morning.

A defence splitting pass from Sam and the all round midfield game from Harry were good enough to edge out other candidates for the Halliwell Jones Kia Southport trophies. Well done! 👏🏻
