After both teams got their new league campaigns off to a winning start, we’re back in action this Sunday! ⚽️

Both sides enjoyed great opening-day wins, and Sunday brings another new opponent as we continue to settle into life in Division One.

We’re looking to build on that first result, keep improving and continue putting into practice the football we’ve been working on. 💪

It should be another great test for the girls, and we’re looking forward to seeing them get back out there! 👊

Match Report – Southport 7–1 Bleak Hill Rovers

A blistering start for our season opener 💪

Southport flew out of the blocks. On 2 minutes, Sophie picked up the ball on the left, cut inside onto her right foot, and curled a brilliant strike from outside the box into the net.
0–1

The pressure continued, and on 15 minutes, a corner caused chaos in the box. After a couple of ricochets, Grace reacted first and smashed home the second.

Ten minutes later, Sophie struck again. She ran the channel, cut inside, saw her first shot saved, but followed in to hammer the rebound into the roof of the net.

Bleak Hill pull one back

Two minutes later, a cross from the left was blocked by Alexa, falling kindly to a Bleak Hill player who finished well.

Instant response — and total control

Southport answered immediately. Darcy produced brilliant work down the left, driving forward before firing a low, hard cross for Sophie to complete her hat‑trick.

Just a minute later, Darcy added her own goal — poking home after Sophie’s shot rebounded off the goalkeeper.

Second‑half

Southport continued to create chance after chance.

Midway through the half, Pheobe burst down the right and delivered a dangerous cross. After more ricochets, Ruby reacted quickest to poke home the sixth.

With ten minutes remaining, Milly capped the scoring in style. She won the ball back through sheer determination, stepped forward, and unleashed a stunning strike into the top corner.

⚽️ Match Report | Bleak Hill Rovers 1–7 Southport FC U13 Girls

A winning start to the season! 💛🖤

What a way to kick off the new season! Our first game in the Warrington Girls Football League Division One saw us head away to face Bleak Hill Rovers, and the girls certainly made the journey worthwhile.

The Port raced into a 3–0 lead, with Sophie getting us off the mark before Grace added a second. Sophie then grabbed her second of the game to put us firmly in control.

Bleak Hill managed to pull one back, but the girls responded immediately, scoring straight from the kick-off to restore the three-goal advantage and make it 4–1. Darcy then added a fifth before half-time to give us a commanding lead.

The second half saw the girls continue to play some really good football, moving the ball well and creating plenty of opportunities. Ruby added another before Milly rounded off the scoring with a fantastic strike from outside the box to make it 7–1 at the final whistle.

A fantastic performance from start to finish and a brilliant away day to get the season underway. Plenty to be pleased with and plenty to build on! 👏⚽️

The wait is almost over for the first game of the new season for our Southport FC U13 Girls!

And what a way to start — our first ever game in the Warrington Girls Football League Division One. 💪

We’ve put in plenty of work during pre-season, and now the real test begins. We’re looking to get off to a positive start, compete from the first whistle and put everything we’ve been working on into practice.

Southport 3–0 Sandgrounders

A confident, controlled performance to close out preseason — sharp passing, clinical finishing, and another clean sheet that underlines how ready this group is for the new campaign.

The girls wrapped up their preseason with a composed 3–0 win over local rivals Sandgrounders. After edging the previous meeting with a last‑minute goal, Southport came into this one determined to set the tone early.

The opening minutes were scrappy, but once Southport settled, their passing and movement began to flow. Patterns of play emerged, chances followed, and the home side took full control.

• Opening Goal — 1–0
A well‑worked corner broke the deadlock. Abbie swung in a dangerous delivery and Milly met it sweetly, guiding a clever volley into the net.
• Second Goal — 2–0
Just two minutes later, Southport doubled their lead. A crisp passing move carved Sandgrounders open, releasing Sophie, who poked the ball past the keeper with real composure.
• Third Goal — 3–0
Southport were now in full rhythm. Another through ball sent Sophie down the right, and she rifled a powerful finish into the far corner.

Sandgrounders rallied after the break, creating half‑chances, but Alexa and her defence stayed organised and firm. Southport continued to threaten — Phoebe, Darcy and Rosa all went close — and the scoreline could easily have been higher.

This was another assured display from a team growing in confidence.
15 goals in 3 games without conceding is a solid platform heading into the new season.

Southport moved the ball intelligently, defended with discipline, and showed they can hurt teams in multiple ways: set pieces, passing combinations, and direct running in behind.

Opened the scoring, controlled the midfield, always found a pass, and sparked multiple attacks. A complete performance.

Match Report: Southport 4 – 0 Formby Rapids

Southport Girls continued their pre‑season preparations with another impressive performance at Larkfield, overcoming Formby Rapids 4–0 on a hot morning. With several players missing through holidays and injuries, the girls had to dig deep — and they delivered with real character and quality.

Southport came out flying and took the lead inside five minutes. Darcy, playing as striker, produced a moment of magic — receiving the ball on the edge of the box, rolling her defender, and bending a composed finish into the far corner.

1–0 Southport.

The pressure continued, and soon Ruby doubled the lead. After a brilliant mazy run into the box, her first effort was saved, but she reacted quickest to slot home the rebound with her left foot.

2–0 Southport.

Formby threatened on the counter, but Southport’s defensive speed and organisation shut down every break before it became dangerous.

Halftime: 2–0

The second half began evenly, with both teams enjoying spells of possession. Southport gradually regained control, forcing several good saves from the Formby keeper.

The third goal came from a well‑worked corner. Rosa delivered a dangerous ball into the six‑yard area, the keeper couldn’t deal with it, and Abbie reacted sharply to finish.

3–0 Southport.

Abbie struck again late on — first to a loose ball and finishing confidently to secure her fourth goal in two games.

4–0 Southport.

Both teams played good football throughout, and it was a valuable fitness‑building run‑out ahead of the new season. Southport’s effort in the heat was outstanding, and the momentum is clear:

12 goals in two games, zero conceded.
A perfect platform as the season approaches.

It was a welcome return of Alexa in her first game back in goal, a clean sheet in an assured performance.

Led the line superbly, showed real quality with her goal, and adapted brilliantly to the striker role.

⭐ Coaches’ Player of the Week – Ruby

Worked tirelessly for her team, stepped into midfield with maturity and intelligence, and capped her performance with a well‑taken goal.

⚽ PRE-SEASON GAME 2 | SOUTHPORT FC U13 GIRLS 4–0 FCFC RAPIDS

Another positive performance for the girls in our second pre-season game, coming away with a convincing 4–0 victory.

We took an early lead through some individual brilliance from Darcy, before Ruby doubled our advantage late in the first half.

The second half saw Abbie add two more goals to complete the scoring.

Overall, a really good, solid performance from the girls. Lots of the things we’ve been working on in training were evident throughout the game, which was great to see as we continue building towards the new season. 💛🖤

⭐ COACHES’ PLAYER OF THE WEEK – RUBY FARRELL

Ruby stepped into a new position today and gave absolutely everything, running herself into the ground. She was rewarded with a well-taken goal and thoroughly deserved the Coaches’ Player of the Week award. 👏

🏆 PARENTS’ PLAYER OF THE WEEK – DARCY PARKER

Darcy led the line really well in the absence of Sophie and gave the Rapids defence plenty to think about. A brilliant solo goal capped off a fantastic performance. 👏

Another good step forward in pre-season. Plenty to be happy with and plenty more to work on! 💪⚽

Our U13 Girls Golds squad for 2026/27 is confirmed! 🙌

There are a couple of changes to the squad from last season, with the majority of the girls continuing their journey together.

We’re also delighted to welcome back Alexa Taylor-Phillips, who has re-signed with the team and will be taking up the gloves once again as our goalkeeper. 🧤💪

After three years together, we’re really looking forward to taking on a new challenge in the Warrington Girls Sunday League. It’s a new league, new opponents and a great opportunity for the girls to continue developing, competing and enjoying their football together.

We can’t wait to get started! 💛💙
