Bramley Apple Football Club - Southwell Bramley Apple FC are an amateur football club based in Southwell Nottinghamshire playing in The Newark Alliance Division 2. Age Group 16+

Formed in 2021 by Chris and Jonathan Rice and named after the iconic Bramley Apple Tree. We play our home matches at The Arthur Radford Sports Ground Morton NG25 0UT. Sponsors: Three 6 Nine Design,

This Sunday was our first home game of the season against Barkestone Le Vale.

Bramley started the game well and had a decent amount of chances the most notably Ryan Burns header from a corner, Declan Cull firing high and wide from nice build up play and a Leighton Harding strike just going wide.

Despite the chances the teams went in to the break at 0-0.

Second half

Barkestone started creating better chances with keeper Jan Poplawski making some good saves all from long range efforts.

The best chance of the second half fell to sub Chris Rice who latched onto a high through ball and the Barkestone keeper back peddling the lobbed effort proved to be the wrong choice as the effort went over the bar.

85 minutes the final long range effort from Barkestone found the top corner a beautiful strike which left the Bramley lads really disappointed after such resolute defending limiting Barkestone to mainly long range efforts.

Final score Bramley Apple 0 - 1 Barkestone

A game which really looked like ending up a draw. Plenty of positives for a new look Bramley Apple side onto the next one 🍏⚽️

Sunday was the start of the season for Bramley and saw us face Bridon Reserves from Retford a new team to the Newark alliance.

Bramley were quick out of the blocks with Nathan Kirk throwing in behind for Declan Cull to fire home inside the first minute.

3 minutes in Bramley won their first corner of the game which Declan Cull swung in for Adam Marriott to head home.

A couple of minutes later it could have been 3 but a Chris Rice volley was brilliantly saved by the home team keeper.

There were further opportunities to go further ahead with efforts from Declan Cull, Jay Murphy and the best chance of all Shaun Baguley who had his heady ruled out rather dubiously for offside.

15 minutes in complacency set in for Bramley with Bridon scoring on the counter which saw momentum shift.

34 mins Bridon levelled the tie and on 39 minutes the home team went in front.

The second half saw Bramley pile on the pressure looking for the equaliser which came 57 minutes in Adam Marriott sliding the ball into Jordan Gowshall with his first time looped shot going over the keeper and into the net. 3-3

Bramley kept pushing and on 81 minutes and hopefully punt forward is flicked on by Chris Rice and Kane Rice looped over the advancing keeper meaning Bramley start the new season with a win and 3 points on the board.

A good result but work to do for the Apples after making such hard work of the game.
