St Andrews Lawn Tennis Club (SALTC) is heading into the final phase of its public consultation with you as members of our community around the Community Asset Transfer of Kinburn Park Thank you to all who have given 5 minutes of your time.

Your support so far has been overwhelmingly positive to preserve Kinburn Park as a community space, as a green and recreational space.

The public consultation is part of the Club's ongoing Community Asset Transfer of Kinburn Park. It is the Club's ambition to preserve the park as a green space for the community and for generations to come. This is a campaign for you as the community – be part of imaging the future of Kinburn Park as a recreational space, a place that brings people together around events, sports, culture and more. T

By now we have had more than 1,400 questionnaires back to us. Can we all together push this to 1,500 and more? Yes, we can.

Thank you on behalf of SALTC

Below are some voices and ideas from the community.

-I have been coming to St Andrews for more than forty years and when I was a child, Kinburn park was a beautifully maintained public space with excellent quality facilities including a putting green, bowling green and clay and hard tennis courts. I would support a return to this quality again.

-I strongly believe community ownership will be significant to St Andrews.

-St Andrews does not need more houses built on grounds that have been used for years by the community for recreation. Bowls, putting and tennis for fat cat non local businesses to put up houses at inflated prices. Keep our green space green and rather fix what we have not sell to make a quick buck.

-An outdoor cinema would be fantastic! And maybe there could be a night market once a month where a variety of food trucks take over the car park?

-This is a legacy project and the decisions should be focused on the continued provision of healthy and positive tennis and other activities for local St Andrew residents and visitors. Important for all ages in this generation and for many years to come.. everyone should show support for this initiative and contribute to the healthy of community sport an recreation.

-Please save this space for young and old alike, as it is wonderful.

-I strongly believe that the community acquisition of Kinburn Park is crucial for current and future generations.

-This is an incredible opportunity to create a contemporary and relevant sporting and social venue for the residents of St Andrews that is not golf focused and open at times that are inclusive of those of working age. With an increased global focus on fitness, well being and mental health through community there is no better time for this project to take off.

-As a former member of the tennis club, I am extremely keen that tennis and now padel and pickleball courts are provided. A putting green would be a great facility for visitors and would help drive traffic to the museum cafe. I also like the idea of semi-indoor table tennis tables. Also support weddings and fairs in the park.

-Using the tennis courts has been a valuable part of living and bringing up children in St Andrews, and now for visiting grandchildren. It should continue to be a resource for future generation. So I hope the council will think and give weight to the long term benefits.I have seen other Community Asset Transfers being extremely successful and I have no doubt that should this go through would be equally successful.

-Good luck, it’s a great project and really needed in the centre of St Andrews.

-We would love to see permanent, high quality Padel courts. We are very committed to supporting the cause and extend our thanks and deep gratitude to those leading the charge on this campaign.

-To be run by the community will have far reaching benefits - excellent news.

-People in my age bracket (over 65) cannot get to Craigtoun Park on public transport (there is none). Kinburn Park would provide us with events and activities that are not available in any other community green space.

-I am concerned that the council might allow developers to build on the bowling green which would reduce publicly-accessible green space in St Andrews further.

-I'm not a member of the Tennis club, but suggest they expand into the bowling and putting area, they play in all weather's and would benefit from an indoor facility that could also lend itself to community use for other purposes as required.

-It's imperative that this space is kept for public use - developers are ruining St Andrews to the benefit of themselves and no-one else, and most available green spaces - no matter how small - are being seen as potential building plots. Once these green spaces are built on, they are lost forever. Kinburn Park, with its bowling green and tennis courts, is one of the few areas left in town for community use.

-I'd like to thank the committee for their amazing hard work, time and effort that they've put into this project so far, it's much appreciated!

-We’re in need to retain communal green spaces in St Andrews. We don’t even have a decent play park for kids in town.
