This week Tuesday 13th - Thursday 15th October between 7am and 7pm if you’re crossing the Tay Bridge by bike give extra time. You’ll need to wait for the shuttle bus as parts of the path are being resurfaced. Outwith these times the path will be open but may require extra care around partially completed works.
🚶♀️🚴 Tay Road Bridge Path Improvements Starting 28 September 🚴♂️🚶
Good news for those who use the Tay Road Bridge paths and walkway. Essential resurfacing works will begin on the Fife side from Monday 28 September and are expected to last for around three weeks. The improvements are needed because sections of the existing surface have become uneven and are breaking up, creating safety concerns.
To minimise disruption, the work will be carried out in three phases:
🔹 Phase 1 – Newport Steps The west steps to Tay Street will be closed while resurfacing takes place. Part of Tay Street will be under temporary traffic lights, and access to the bridge will be via the east steps.
🔹 Phase 2 – Walkway Underpass to Bridge The walkway will need to close for up to three days (between 7am and 7pm) to allow resurfacing to be carried out safely. During this period, a free shuttle bus, including space for bicycles, will be provided by Moffat & Williamson.
🔹 Phase 3 – Fife Car Park to Underpass The path from the Fife car park to the underpass will be closed, with access to the bridge available via the west (Newport) steps.
I appreciate that the temporary closures may be inconvenient for some bridge users, but the result should be safer, smoother paths for pedestrians and cyclists alike.
Please share this post with anyone who regularly walks or cycles across the bridge so they can plan ahead. 👍
