⚽️ CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE – WELCOME TO THE 2026/27 SEASON ⚽️

As Chairman of the Hunts Youth League, I’m delighted to welcome all our clubs, teams, players, coaches, referees, volunteers and families to the 2026/27 season!

After months of preparation behind the scenes, this weekend we finally get to see what it is all about — young people getting out on the pitch and enjoying football.

A huge amount of work goes into making grassroots football happen every single week, so I want to start by saying a massive THANK YOU to every coach, manager, club official, volunteer, referee and parent who gives up their time to support our young players.

This season, we are proud to launch the Hunts Youth League Four Pillars, which represent what we want our league to stand for:

🔴 DEVELOP – Creating opportunities for players, coaches and referees to learn and develop.

🔵 INSPIRE – Creating positive experiences that inspire young people to love the game.

🟢 SUCCEED – Giving everyone the opportunity to achieve and celebrate their own successes.

⚪️ RESPECT – Respecting teammates, opponents, coaches, volunteers and our match officials.

These four pillars will become a big part of the Hunts Youth League this season and will help guide what we do both on and off the pitch.

🚭 SMOKEFREE SIDELINES

We are also really pleased to be partnering with Living Better this season and introducing SmokeFree Sidelines across the Hunts Youth League.

Youth football should provide a positive and healthy environment for our young people, and we are asking everyone across our clubs to support this initiative and help us create smoke-free environments on our sidelines.

🟣 PLEASE SUPPORT OUR YOUNG REFEREES

You may also see some of our U18 referees wearing purple shirts this season.

These are young people learning and developing as match officials, just as our players are learning and developing on the pitch.

Please support them, encourage them and most importantly respect them.

Without referees, we simply don’t have a game.

As we begin another season, my message to everyone is simple:

Let the children play. Let them enjoy their football. Let them make mistakes, learn, develop and create memories with their teammates.

Of course we all want to win — football is competitive — but the result should never become more important than the experience we are creating for our young people.

When the final whistle goes, shake hands, show respect and remember why we are all here.

🚨 A Message Ahead of the New Season 🚨

As we prepare for another exciting season, the Hunts Youth League would like to remind everyone of the standards of behaviour expected across all of our clubs.

Youth football is about the children. It’s about developing players, building confidence, creating friendships and ensuring every child enjoys their football in a safe, positive environment.

This season, the Hunts Youth League will take a zero-tolerance approach to unacceptable behaviour from anyone involved in the game, whether that’s parents, coaches, players or spectators.

This includes, but is not limited to:
• Abusive or offensive language.
• Aggressive or intimidating behaviour.
• Threats towards referees, coaches, players or spectators.
• Damage to equipment or facilities.
• Any behaviour that brings the game into disrepute.

All incidents of poor behaviour will be reported and dealt with through the appropriate disciplinary processes. We will work closely with our clubs, referees and County FA to ensure football remains a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.

Together, let’s create touchlines that our children can be proud of.
