β€οΈ A busy afternoon at the STH Clinical Pharmacy Update!
Following lunch, delegates moved into Cardiovascular Risk Management, beginning with Dr Biju Jose, Consultant Endocrinologist at UHNM and Senior Lecturer and Prescribing Skills Co-lead at Keele University, who delivered an update on Lipid Management, cardiovascular prevention and familial hypercholesterolaemia.
This was followed by Dr Robert Butler, Consultant Cardiologist at UHNM, with a practical session on Hypertension Management in Primary Care, exploring antihypertensive therapy, medicines choices, lifestyle interventions, difficult-to-control hypertension and local referral pathways.
π And to round off todayβs educational programme, we welcomed Dr Mohammed Oomerjee, GP and Trainer at Pareto Education, for our final session on Safe Prescribing in Primary Care.
Dr Oomerjee is taking delegates through a practical approach to safe, effective and defensible prescribing in everyday clinical practice, including prescribing for patients with reduced renal or hepatic function and how this should inform prescribing decisions.
A huge thank you to Dr Jose, Dr Butler and Dr Oomerjee for sharing their expertise with STH delegates this afternoon. πππ
