Week 20 – Arizona 🩷

Today’s story is all about Arizona, another homebred superstar. Unlike her sister Indiana, who featured in last week’s story and was born just three days apart from her, Arizona has always been the bossy sister. From the very beginning, she was determined to be first in line for attention and has never lost that confident streak.

Arizona’s mum is a beautiful sports mare called Tia, now happily retired from the trekking centre. Tia has the most wonderful temperament, and she passed that on to both of her beautiful foals, who I still have today. Tia now lives just a couple of fields away with one of my friends, enjoying a well-earned retirement close to home. 🩷

The combination of Tia and Zidane, my Dutch Warmblood stallion, proved to be a winning one. Together they produced a horse with intelligence, kindness, athleticism and beautiful forward paces.

If I had to name the horse most in demand with clients, it would probably be Arizona. She has the softest mouth, carries herself beautifully, and somehow makes every rider feel like a better version of themselves. She moves effortlessly, works enthusiastically, and truly is the perfect all-rounder. Standing at 16.2hh, she’s happy anywhere in the ride, but she’s at her happiest striding along with the front runners, using those long, powerful paces.

She really is the perfect horse to own. Her soft eyes melt your heart, and I’ve always said her beautifully marked eyes look like she’s wearing eyeliner. 🤭 Her striking arrow marking on her chest and her medicine hat marking make her instantly recognisable and completely unique.

Within the herd, Arizona is a strong mare who naturally keeps order. She always enjoyed bossing her five siblings around and still likes to keep a watchful eye on them. While she’s particularly close to Indiana because they grew up together, she absolutely adores her full brother Colorado—although that doesn’t stop her from reminding him who’s boss! 🤣

Arizona is that rare horse everyone falls in love with. She’s the cool girl, the cheerleader, the one everyone wants to be around. Humans adore her, horses respect her, and she’s become one of those truly irreplaceable horses that leaves a mark on every heart she touches.
