This week in our homeschooling group we had a wonderful time in our community garden creating our brand new bug and insect hotel.

We also repotted and planted in the ground some fabulous new plants, including some gorgeous clematis to grow up our frames. (Massive thanks to Liz Wrightson for this fab donation!)

Plus, starting on our series in regards to preserving produce from the garden, our children and parents tasted dehydrated fruit and discussed the benefits of these!

🥦🌿 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – GRANT SUPPORT

The Power of Resilience CIC is looking for someone who can help us find and apply for grants that support our work tackling food poverty, improving mental health and wellbeing, and growing our environmental projects across Tameside.

We’re a small community organisation, and every grant helps us keep our pantries running, strengthen wellbeing spaces, and build climate‑positive work.

We’re looking for volunteers who:
✨ Can help with grant applications
✨ Has good attention to detail
✨ Cares about community and wants to make a difference

Good spelling, grammar and punctuation and some grant‑writing experience are important, but enthusiasm and reliability matter most.

It’s a voluntary role, but your support will help us feed families, boost wellbeing and protect our environment.

Thank you for the huge donation of apples from Friends of Waterloo Park - Ashton! These have already started to be distributed through our community pantry at Thompson Cross!

Unfortunately our community pantry at Thompson Cross, 137 Stamford Street, Stalybridge, SK15 1LU will be undergoing maintenance in the next few weeks due to wear and tear.

This pantry has been used day in day out for 3 years and we need to replace the hinges and remake the doors at the front. We will keep the boxes operational, and there will be bread and veg in them throughout this period. Please bear with us.

We'd love you to support our raffle as ongoing maintenance such as this is quite costly and every penny counts.
