We are back for number 5 and it will be the biggest one yet!

The Chells Rovers 5th Annual Charity Fundrasier:

⚽️ Chells Rovers vs Dun Cow XI
📅 Saturday 30th May
🕰️ 14:00pm
📍Letchworth County Ground

This year we will be raising money for in memory of a special man in the Furness family

‘I’m really proud to say I’ve been asked by my friend Jake Healy to help with this year’s Chells Rovers charity football match.

This game is especially close to my heart as it’s being held in memory of my dad, who sadly passed away in 2015 shortly after a cup final I played in for The Dun Cow.

My dad came to watch me play in that final. We then went on to have a family party, and not long after I received the phone call saying he’d had a heart attack and I needed to get to him as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, by the time I arrived, it was too late. It’s a day that will never leave my head.

Because of this — and also losing my uncle at just 37, my grandad at 62, and seeing my other grandad go through a triple bypass — the British Heart Foundation is a charity that means everything to me.

I’ve previously raised money for the BHF through the London Marathon and the London to Brighton bike ride, and now I’m really looking forward to doing it again through football — with a charity match between Chells Rovers vs Dun Cow.

Huge respect and thanks to Jake Healy for asking me to be involved and for organising this event for the second time. It takes a special person to put something like this together, and he’s doing an amazing job.

Any support, donations, or shares would be massively appreciated ❤️’

I don’t think it’ll be a shock to others that a team of good pals who go out Friday n Saturday and crack on till the early hours of the morning most weekends, are gunna knock it on the head.

We’ve had a small handful of downs but a massive handful of ups in the last 4 years. Our first win in a friendly at Barnwell on the pi***ng rain with bare 11, wonder goal on the boggy pitch at Thomas Alleynes, winning 3 cups at Arlesey (apologies again about the league), 22 games winning streak, hitting 100 goals and countless last minute winners.

The rivalries with .fc and , playing 6 or 7 times a season. Dealing with people not showing up for late nights in kitchens or iPhones updating. The Sunday sessions at the Plume till close in our kits, after we played someone of the park, it’s been stressful at times. But what a laugh it’s been.

Not to forget doing things within the community, getting Shea his national award for the FA, raising just over £4,500 across 3 charity doos. The club getting exposure on Sky sports, BT and across the world. WE wouldn’t change any of it or the people who have been apart of it.

We vow to make it a tradition that we do a charity doo once a year. To raise a few quid for the great local charities and get everyone together to talk about how we was the bo****ks for a few years.

The lads can now enjoy sundays rest with their families or for those that just see it as an excuse to stay at mine or Moran’s⁩ an extra few hours, it’s been earned.

Don’t be sad it’s over, be happy it happened and enjoy the memories, UP THE ROVERS 💙

We’ve been a bit of quiet on instagram recently, since our last post we took a couple of pastings and made another final (shock). Since we started as a club in 2020, we have held charity fundraisers for local charities each year and this year is no different.

The Chells Rovers 4th Annual Charity Fundrasier:

📅 Saturday 13th July
🕰️ 12:30
📍Letchworth County Ground

This year and for the second time we will be raising money for in memory of Sharon Simpson.

‘I am very grateful for my youngest Son Wayne and friends especially Jake Healy in organizing this event in support of the Garden House Hospice.
My late wife and Wayne’s mum passed away in the In Patients Unit at the Hospice in Sep 2019 after a 5yr battle with Ovarian Cancer, Although she was only there in her final 48 hrs she was treated with the utmost care and dignity to the end which has had a lasting impression on her family.

The Hospice needs a lot of money to provide it’s range of services within North Herts and a large percentage of this is via Donations from the public so this event will help them to continue the excellent work they do....Many Thanks!’

Tickets will be made available soon and as always a location for a pub after will be revealed soon. A raffle, football scratch cards, sweepstake and many other things be revealed. Spread the word and let’s make this the biggest fundraiser yet.

Well that was eventful, 11 goals and 3 important points. The scoring was opened by Drew and a second was quickly added with a bullet header by Yes yes. Rovers allowed Baldock to take the lead with 3 quick goals either side of the half. Super sub Cheeks got the boys back into the game with a fine finish into the bottom corner, before Drew added his second of the game. Chunwin scored another spectacular goal following helped by a great assist from JT. Bas got his first for the club to make it 6-3, the scoring was then finished off by Lu and Faron. Chells 5-4 The C**k
⚽️⚽️
⚽️⚽️
⚽️

Well that was bloody eventful. A faultless first half from the Rovers see us go 3-0 up, Chunwin opened the scoring with a great effort from outside the box. Magic man Kirty got his first of the season, before a great passing move see Lu tap in from a Kitty assist. A mad second half began with The C**k scoring to 2 to cut the deficit to 1 goal, but Lu got his second to put us 4-2 up. Complacency kicked in and The C**k made it 4-4 with 10 to go, but with pens looking likely a Kirty cross was met by Chunwin who scored with a standing scorpion kick to win the game and put us into the quarters, UP THE ROVERS 🔵
