Good Luck!
Thank you for entering the 2026 Fairlands Valley Challenge.
If you have already told us you can’t make Sunday please disregard this, we will be sorry to miss you and hope to see you in 2027!
All descriptions include What3Words locations for the checkpoints and are available for download from the website.
Please program the emergency number into your phone 07753 581541 We have professional First Aid cover who will reach you quicker than an ambulance. However in a serious emergency call 999 first.
The GPX files will get you round but they are provided as is. Please make sure you don’t blindly follow them into people’s front gardens! If using GPS please program your device before leaving home. They are provided below as a zip file and also on the website. Please ask your friendly IT expert if you are struggling to extract them.
If you do get lost, retrace your steps and try and recover.
If you have to retire please do so at a CP and we will try and get you back to the HQ, if you decide to make your own way home please call the emergency number and let us know. Every year we have people leaving without telling us they are safe which creates issues for us.
Please ensure we have your race number and we have briefed you before you leave. We aim to do mini mass starts every 10 minutes or when there is a big enough group ready to go.
If you want to change distance before you start just let registration know of your distance, and if you decide to change distance while out on the course, let us know when you finish. This is a manually timed event so please make sure we record your finish time. Remember Strava lies - if you stop for cake or to read directions, your moving time will not agree with your elapsed time, please check before querying results.
We are ‘cupless’. you must bring your own cups and water containers. Water and squash refills will be provided at all Checkpoints.
Please feel free to ask questions on Facebook or email us if you have any queries.

You should have all had an e-mail with instructions…
But just incase here is what you need to know!
If you have never done the Challenge before we hope you will enjoy your day. It is not your usual Trail event. We aim to run a relaxed fun day, there are no strict start times, again, please see the Event Day Page for suggested start times, it is up to you to work out the best time for you to start based on how fast you think you’ll run/walk/limp/crawl. We will have very fast 50k runners who will start early and be through CPs before they are open.
Please Check the Event Day page on the website and read it fully. This is where updates will be posted between now and Sunday, along with the Facebook group and page. The routes have been thoroughly checked but we cannot control the weather. Please be careful and if front runners can, please use the emergency number 07753 581541 to let us know of any major issues with the course or report at the next check point.
The event is self guided! There are no course markers!
All the route descriptions and GPX files are available via the website. PLEASE NOTE some FOOTPATHS have been CLOSED since 2025. You must use up-to-date descriptions and GPX files.
We provide NO paper copies of the route description or any maps, you must print them off and bring them with you. Links to the maps are included below, these are not on the website! HINT: Turn right out of the school. If you have a 50K map we will clarify the Datchworth loop on Sunday.
The course has been walked and all descriptions have been updated as there were MAJOR CHANGES in 2024. All routes now pass through Aston and not Benington. 💙🩵
