🥈 SILVER FOR TEAM SPARTANS AT HATFIELD! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

A fantastic finish to the Hatfield 5K Series, with our men’s team taking second place overall! 🙌

🏃 Samuel Paul finished third man in the series, while Charles Arnold took the M70+ honours.

There were also PBs galore in the final race, with Su McAneny, Kerstin Prior and Katie Barnard all setting new bests! 🔥

And that’s just the start… Spartans were also out in force at the Great North Run, Battersea, Harvathon, SwimRun Jersey and parkruns across the UK and beyond. 🌍

🏆 A Fairlands Valley Spartans one-two! 🩵💙

It was a winning morning for FVS at the Stevenage Menzies 10K, held at Fairlands Valley Park.

MIKE JEFFS took the win in 38:23, finishing 13 seconds ahead of his nearest rival and securing his first-ever race victory! 🏆

And who was second? Another Spartan! JAY PAPA crossed the line in 38:35 to complete a brilliant FVS one-two. 🩵💙

Mike also took part in the ASK Physio 5K earlier that morning, using it as a gentle warm-up and finishing right on his target of 20 minutes before lining up for the 10K an hour later.

“I’m absolutely delighted. It was an amazing experience to know what it feels like to lead a race from the front and then cross the finish line in first place for the first time. Definitely a race day I won’t forget!”

Jay was equally delighted to be part of the FVS one-two. What a morning for the pair! 💪🏻

The event gave runners the chance to take on the 5K at 9:15am, followed by the 10K at 11:05am, with several Spartans taking on both races.

🔥 23 Spartans ran both

Across the two races, Mike also recorded the fastest combined time, finishing in 58:28, 23 seconds ahead of his nearest rival.

✨ ZOE NEWELL ran a new 10K PB of 1:20:11
✨ JANE WADEY ran her fastest 5K since 2024, improving by 1:20 compared with last year’s race

Stevenage parkrun #470 was another pacer event, this time powered by Fairlands Valley Spartans. 535 parkrunners navigated the course, 69 recording new personal bests ⭐. Representatives of 29 different clubs took part. 🎽Many thanks to our 49 volunteers. 🦺 Bronya Brown, David Bennett‑Halliday, Callum Roulson and Amanda Vickers joined the vollies for the first time; Frank Tully and Tim Robinson hit the big V10. 👏🏽 If you'd like to volunteer at a future event message [email protected].

🩵💙 STRIPEY SATURDAY & FVS PARKRUN TAKEOVER! 💙🩵

Tomorrow is the first Saturday of the month which means Stripey Saturday and this month we’re taking over Stevenage parkrun!🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏼‍♀️

We’ll have plenty of FVS members volunteering across different roles, as well as our very own pacers helping you chase down those times! ⏱️🔥

🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ ANOTHER BUSY WEEK FOR THE SPARTANS! 💙

It’s been another action-packed week for Fairlands Valley Spartans!

🏆 Samuel Paul took another parkrun win at Stevenage in a fantastic 16:26!

⏱️ Natalie Browne won the latest Handicap 5K, setting a new PB of 26:01. And there were plenty more strong performances across the field.

🏃‍♂️ 22 Spartans took on the 1500m at Ridlins, with Charlie White leading the way in 4:45.9 and Mike Jeffs clocking a new PB of 4:49.1.

🌍 Spartans were also out racing and parkrunning across the UK and beyond, from Norfolk and the Scottish Borders to Copenhagen and Freiburg!

It was a winning one-two for Fairlands Valley Spartans in the Stevenage Menzies 10K race based on Fairlands Valley Park on sunny Sunday morning. MIKE JEFFS had a winning margin of 13 seconds with his first ever race winning time of 38 minutes 22 seconds. And who was second? Another Spartan! JAY PAPA...

There will be a secure, monitored bag drop available inside Hampson Community Centre on event day.

Drop off your belongings before you head to the start line and enjoy your race knowing they’re being looked after! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️💙

Please remember to collect your bag after you finish!!
