Last weekend at the British Championships 2026 in Coventry, I became British Champion 🏆🇬🇧
It was a special experience competing against an amazing lady from Masters 5 who was also 2kg lighter than me. In women’s masters divisions, especially around our age, there are very few competitors, so as the only people in Masters 4 and Masters 5, we were advised to combine the divisions. Just to give a perspective (I’m 47yrs old and my opponent is 51yrs old)
We had a great match, and I managed to get the win by kimura submission.
As much as I’d love to compete more often, balancing life, work, building a business, family, my own training, and all the responsibilities that come with kids and trying to stay healthy and self-efficient during this perimenopause stage of life can be a lot. But I can’t complain too much this is the life I chose, and I’m lucky to have such a massive support system behind me.
Huge thanks to my club, coaches, and teammates at .movement.bjj for all the hard rounds and support. I’m also grateful for the opportunities to cross-train with amazing people from .martialarts
One thing I genuinely love about this sport is the people. In my personal experience since starting BJJ almost 5 years ago, I’ve met nothing but friendly, helpful, and supportive people. I know that’s not always everyone’s experience, but it’s definitely been mine.
Most importantly, thank you to my family for being the most awesome support system for listening to me talk endlessly about jiu-jitsu this and jiu-jitsu that… basically tolerating what sounds like a full-blown BJJ addiction 😂
And a special thank you to my husband, my biggest supporter in everything I do a European and World Champion black belt in both kickboxing and BJJ even when he doesn’t necessarily agree with my crazy ideas and can sometimes pull off a few subs…🤣❤️
From this day forward, please acknowledge me as Coach Anna the British Champ 😂🏆
