League 1
Coach and Horses 4 v 4 Fairfield Park
26th February Ridlins Stevenage
"ADAM MORRIS TO THE RESCUE"
We travelled to table topping Coach and Horses (CnH) with a bare 11.
Many players nursing hangovers and self inflected sleep deprivation we managed to get a starting 11 with 5 mins before kick off.
Brad Ward had told the squad during the week that he has bought new boots and will be at every game - unfortunately he failed to turn up.
Even with a full squad this game would be difficult away to table topping, unbeaten CnH. With a bare 11 no one gave as any chance. Archie Wilkinson taking player/captain/manager role as his brother Harry was out galavanting.
Fairfield started of strong.
Adam "Badger" Illingworth with a 35 yard cross turned shot flying in to the top corner.
1 nil to Fairfield.
CnH grew in to the game - and levelled after a through ball beat our offside trap.
Fairfield then went down to 10 men.
CnH then went 2 - 1 up after another defensive mistake by the Park. The story of our season.
Fairfield showed resilience and created chances. Adam Morris shot was superbly saved.
The second half Fairfield came out the stronger.
Adam Morris placed a delightful cross for Danny Pye only to sky it from 2 yards. Not his best performance.
Matt Cooper thought he had levelled after nodding in from a delicious Sam Day corner only for the game to be ruled out for a push in the box.
Sam Day produced another corner which was nicked in at the near post by Adam Morris - 2 -2 game on.
CnH then scored from a free kick to make it 3- 2 against 10 men. This then soon became 4-2 as Fairfield chased an equaliser.
Every one thought that would be it.
Adam Morris had other thoughts.
Goal Keeper Josh Mollison took a free kick from the half way line which was nodded back by Badger to Adam Morris who unleashed a 25 yard screamer- goal of the season. 4-3 2mins to go.
Corner to 10 men Fairfield. Goal Keeper Josh goes up and gets fouled. PENALTY
Adam Morris steps up and scores his Hatrick- 4-4 last kick of the game.
First draw for Fairfield this season - Adam Morris motm.
Next week big Cup 1/4 Final

Sandon 0 v 2 Fairfield Park FC
League 1 - Baldock Road Recreation Ground
Fairfield returned to league action after the recent cup exploits.
It appears that the key players are only interested in the Cup and we struggled with a bare 11.
This was a great opportunity for fringe players to mark their claim for a starting berth for the County Cup Semi and they didn't disappoint!!
The game started well for Fairfield with regular Tristan Potkins going on a mazy run only to be fouled in the box. Clear Penalty.
Alfie Murray grabbed the ball and placed on the penalty spot. Many had doubts but Alfie Murray cooly slotted the pen. Murray produced a master class with a front three including Tom Gibbson and Danny Pye - the streets will not forget!!
A pen was given then to Sandon which was saved by Josh "Boomer" Mollison.
He then pulled off some spectacular saves to keep Fairfield ahead and get that elusive clean sheet.
The make shift defense of Brad Ward, Jake Hills, Mike Parish and club captain Archie Wilkinson all playing out of position did a great job in keeping the clean sheet!.
Danny Pye "shower fresh" from winning on Saturday slotted to put Fairfield 2 nil up.
There were many other chances but the game finished 2 nil.
12th February 2023
County Cup 1/4 Final.
Fairfield Park 5 - 1 GSS.
Fairfield took to the field to play in the County Cup after disposing of BWSC last week in the same tournament.
This week it was GSS - both clubs being founded in 2014 and having a respectable rivalry over the years.
Fairfield started great with Reece Stokes taking what looked like the whole team on to put Fairfield 1 up.
The Luke Shimmel show then started. The man, the myth, the legend turning up to play for the club after many months out. It was worth the wait.
Luke scored an exquisite goal to make it two nil.
Kane Dougherty last weeks hatrick hero dinked the ball in to the back post for Luke to tap in his second and Fairfield's third before half time.
Shout out to the GSS goal keeper who made some blinding saves to keep the score down.
The second half GSS scored early to make it a test for the home team - our elusive clean sheet still awaits!
Fairfield always looked in control and were playing some great football.
A long ball over the top was chased down by Reece Stokes who cut it back to Luke who placed it in the top corner for his hatrick and the man of the match trophy. It would be great if he played more but when he does its definitely worth the wait!!
Kane Dougherty not to be outshone headed home Fairfields 5th late on.
We now face Glen Sports in the Semi Final of the County- the furthest we have ever gone in this competition.

County Cup 4th Round.
Fairfield Park 5 v 2 BWSC FC
After many cancellations Fairfield Park finally got on to a football pitch after 4 weeks off.
Today we hosted Borehamwood Social FC in the county cup.
Fairfield started off very strong. A Beckham esq corner from Sam Day was finished off by Kane Dougherty (KD)
Sam Day had his second assist soon after. Another great corner was nodded in by Carlton Phillips.
BWSC clawed one back.
Shouts for a penalty by KD as he suffered a head injury in the box where turned down.
The second half BWSC came out with more hunger and quickly levelled - they were definitely the better team for the first 10mins.
The pivotal moment was when Kai Keilly's trickery was too much for the away team and was brought down.
Clear Penalty- KD stepped up and slotted our 3rd and his 2nd of the day.
That goal kicked the steam out of BWSC. Tom Gibson scored a 4th soon after.
KD got his hat trick after some great solo work to leave home with the match ball.
The win sees us progress to the quarter finals with GSS laying in wait.
Massive win today against a strong St Johns team. Harry Wilko saving a pen with the score at 2-1 - massive.
Fairfield went on to win the game 5-1.
Fairfield Park 0 vs 2 Sandon
18th September 2022, Grange Letchworth.
After an extended break that saw the nation come to a halt (R.I.P Lizzy), The Park were back in action at home vs a very much buoyed Sandon side.
It would become apparent that the writing was on the wall for The Park from the get go as we had just finished setting up the goals for the ref to declare the pitch unplayable and the nets be taken down and put up again on the pitch now known as “the halfpipe”.
A delay in kick off saw our minutes silence constantly ruined by teams that had kicked off 10 minutes ago on the surrounding pitches.
Our top goalscorer was in no fit state to play with his replacement having 3 hours sleep due to FA cup glory not fairing much better (amazing by the way, well done, "it's too easy")
The first half was a game of keepers kicking it to one another then epitomised by Johnny Rayan aka JR1 handling the ball about 10 yards outside if the box. I genuinely think the referee just felt sorry for him at this point.
Not many positives to take from the half bar not being behind. That did not last long into the second half. After the usual team talk of “they are s**t, we can win this”, The Park were makers of their own undoing.
The rival winger was allowed to cut inside and released a fierce shot towards the near post. The Bunt reserves group chat had a quiet one that evening.
The Park went all out attack. 6 players up top and we could still not put our chances away. Rumour has it that if we were still there now we would have not equalised.
Not a lot else to be said really… Going for the game we got caught lacking from a corner. A scuffed clearance that travelled all of 30cm fell to the Sandon striker for him to smash home from 10 yards.
To add insult to injury, Badger got knocked the f*** out by a flying ball from 5 yards and had to be subbed off. Thank you Lankz for saving my life!
The less said about this game the better. The title charge took a huge dent this weekend, but we go again.

League 1 - Grange
Fairfield Park 7 - 1 Buffs
After a successful pre season consisting of 3 wins and 1 loss and an overall goal difference of plus 9 (it was plus 17 before a game never to be discussed in footballing circles again) aiming for silverware this year, the Park were ready to kick on with the 22/23 campaign in a home game vs newly promoted Buffs. If our summer tournament was anything to go by, we will show promise, get to the semi-finals and bottle it again, but lets see what happens.
With the only competent Wilkinson away on international duty and the hero Wilko away defending our country, a lot of responsibility was left to our Captain, Archie. Safe to say this was far from ideal and a recipe for disaster.
With 1 ball, no nets, no flags and a lack of correct kit, Arch did “thankfully” arrive just before kick off with other players reluctant to lend match day equipment. Regardless, the show must go on!
The ever balding Badger was asked to step up and organise the unorganisable on a fresh Sunday morning down at the grange. If he had hair to pull out, he probably would have.
In Park tradition, there was no warm up, the stench of beer and vodka still in the air, players still drunk and a team talk consisting of “they are s**t”, it finally felt like we were home again ❤️
The game started well with the Park showing their immediate intentions and grabbing a goal 5 minutes in with Tristan slamming the ball home from 10 yards. Great goal to get us up and running.
A Park game would not be complete without some sort of defensive blunder and very quickly Buffs were equal after a defensive header fell short and the Park midfielders were slow off the mark to react. New goalkeeper Josh’s first clean sheet will have to wait for another day.
Finger pointing and head shaking 15 minutes into the season was more odds on than a post match pint down the JCA.
Thankfully that woke the Park up and not too long after, we were back in the lead. A good ball from goalscorer Tristan set up the ever present Toleman showing his consistent quality and relieving some of the pre-match tensions to put us 2-1 up.
Just before half time, Lil Coops sliced a clearance upfield which Badger was already moaning about before it had left his boot… Thankfully it span beautifully in front on goal for The Park to grab their third. Badger had no choice but to apologise. Maybe it was a good pass after all.
The game could have been 5-1 at half time with Tristan missing 2 sitters that equated to a combined distance of 8 yards from goal. Rumour has it he was out past 1am Saturday night celebrating Bunts opening win.
The half time talks were heated with a few dummies being thrown but nevertheless, our quality shone through. The team were sobering up.
4-1, 5-1, 6-1… The Park were in the groove. A convincing lead allowed us to make substitutions and even gave our sub goalie a run out up top. Unfortunately that ended very quickly after he took an elbow to the head sending him to hospital. Speedy recovery JR!
Buffs started to lash out with their frustrations showing through a range of fouls. This became more evident in an argument with a player who had forgot how many they were actually losing by.
The 1 ball we did have will never be seen again. Tristan did his best to boot it away previously but Kai sealed the deal.
Some very good link up play saw Park declare at 7. A result never really in doubt.
Goals from:
Toleman x2
Tristan
Brandon
The one armed Brad
Danny
Lankz
Man of the Match and Dick of the Day were unanimous with Toleman (MOM) and Tristan (DOD) receiving them respectfully.
Next week sees us take on The Bus & Pony which sure to be a fiery affair and potentially see who has the minerals for a realistic title challenge.
