This 90-minute introductory workshop offers a relaxed, welcoming space to gain an understanding of mindfulness and explore simple practices that help you become more present, aware, and tuned in to your experience.

Through guided exercises and core meditations—including mindfulness of the breath, light mindful movement, everyday mindful awareness and a body scan—you'll have the opportunity to engage in mindfulness first-hand.

Whether you're completely new to mindfulness or simply looking for a moment to slow down, this is an opportunity to step out of autopilot and into the present moment.

Angela is an accredited psychological therapist who also specialises in mindfulness and is registered with the Mindfulness Teachers Association.

Be prepared: what can you do before the course to better prepare yourself for your Yoga Teacher Training?

So you’ve booked onto a Yoga Teacher Training course – you’re excited! You probably can’t wait to get started! But you have a few weeks, or maybe a few months before it starts. How can you make the best of that time, so you can be prepared for the course?

These suggestions are from some of our Seasonal YTT graduates – the best advice you can get.

Clarify your intentions for the Course – remind yourself of what made you sign up. Think about what you want to get out of the course in the long term…do you want to teach, or is this for deepening your own practice? If you’re not sure, it’s fine, but good to consider.

Make space in your life - for personal practice – as well as processing and absorbing the course work. YTTs can be intense and you will need to make time for practice, for homework, for self-care and for recharging your batteries.

Prepare to be emotional - happy, sad, frustrated – you name it, you might experience it on the course! Yoga is about self-exploration, so it’s completely natural that things will bubble up. Remember everyone is in the same boat as you and be open to whatever arises.

Let go of images of perfect Yoga Teachers or a perfect practice – diversity is a beautiful thing and yoga needs it in its teachers and practices. Be yourself and trust that you have what it takes.

Attend regular classes with relevant teachers – sign up for classes with teachers who teach in the style you will be focussing on in your training. Start to become more familiar with it.

Do some reading – You may receive a reading list when you book in to your course. You probably don’t need to read all the books in advance, but maybe one or two might be helpful, and even just looking through books can give you a sense of what the course entails so it feels more comfortable when you start.

Remember that Yoga is more than a physical practice – expect that most quality trainings will include breathwork, meditation, some history and philosophy as well as postures.

Expect transformation! – your course will be a journey of personal development and evolution. Some of it may be challenging but it will also be fun.

Sort practicalities – if you have to travel, or have stop-overs near your venue, make sure you get these planned or arranged in plenty of time for the start of the course.

Consider journaling – a reflective written record of your journey will not only be useful as you move through the course, but also wonderful to look back on after you’ve completed it.

If you’re training in Seasonal Yoga – begin to notice your rhythms and energy shifts through the weeks & months…maybe make notes about this in your journal.

Finally don’t over think it. If all of these suggestions make you feel anxious, let them go 😊

Yoga Teacher Training can be transformative – you won’t be the same at the end of the course! You will learn so much – physically, mentally and emotionally.
So whether or not you decide to teach, enjoy the ride!
