3 things you can do right now to feel fit for the summer.
Do you think you it's not the right time right now?
This is exactly what Amy felt when she started, every time she started she went to the gym and was beasted and struggled to stick to it.
Made her feel like it wasn't the right time.
Trust me a lot was going on, but we need to know that enough is enough.
If you lose yourself in the process you feel like you are further away, and it can really hit your confidence levels.
It may be you taking work home with you, relationships or even stress is just piling up.
It can go on for some time.
What we did with Amy was start ensuring that she is the priority in her life.
Of course, the first two are pretty obvious.
1-Training starts steady and builds up intensity.
Just think about it, is the logical first move to suddenly sprint and jump about??
2- Eating better, cutting out some of the junk foods.
But the third... it's different and its what was really lacking.
Amy was struggling with energy and brain fog all the time, when you are stretched thin from work and life it's hard.
She was burning out, so the 3rd one that got Amy to need an entire new wardrobe.
3- Do more fun outside of work things, its helped Amy lower stress and focus on being her best.
She got back to Roller Derby, meeting friends and being social.
All these added up with a plan to help steer her in a direction to burn unwanted fat stores and feel strong.
Her energy levels are on the up, what was the issue she was stressed out and burnt out.
Training is about building a person up and for years I thought it was about how hard you could work.
When you start training to build your body you see it's not about how hard you work, you can't out-train poor rest.
Amy will testify to that and how she trained in her 20s is different... but she is building her energy daily.
This means confidence is on the up!
If you want more info on how Amy transformed I will share a free coaching video with you on how you too can transform, stress-free and more energy.
Dm me "Training" I will send it over.

Reflecting from Hyrox.
Training to be fast vs strong.
I signed up to hyrox on the back of a really successful back to running 10km from breaking my ankle.
I feel really good about my speed, but this is a new sport to me.
It’s not the same as running, you need runner strength.
This is built over time.
For me to progress- it’s about building from my first step into hyrox.
We often can get caught thinking how fast we go is great, but it’s your ability to embrace what is weakness.
Lets look at the logic- getting my legs back up to strength I got fast…
But they are not strong.
I need to get them stronger, it’s comfort that will tell you that circuits, running.
But strength wise- full range and apply that into your running with zone 2, zone 3z
Build strength in movements like split squats.
I signed up to Hyrox on the back of a really successful 10km build up.
What would have helped would have been going through a strength build here.
Yet- I don’t take this in a fault of my training, because my first hyrox I got over the finish line.
Lots to take away and plug in.
So much learning, the experince.
I felt energy wise bang on, lungs bang on.
I felt condition wise- AMAZING, my legs were strong enough to get my first time.
So I actually have zero regrets, it’s given me an excitement as first up I know that 3 min trying to get my legs back moving mid run will be gone.
I know that I can zero in on my Rox zone…
Honestly, it’s given me so much I can focus on.
But it starts with the elephant in the room.
Get stronger- I will be leaner as that is what I was focusing on now.
But next level in bound.
I’m going to give a few lessons next few weeks.
I have my cut coming in now, strength focus with steady progressions in run.
Taking things up a few levels.
So more details to follow on what is next, today is more spending time with my family.
Swimming with the wee one, and making sure my wife knows how much I appreciate her support.
The saying is “behind every great man is his partner rolling her eyes?”
😂
Like I said lots of positives to take- I’m really happy that I have focus points that I can improve.

Getting back in shape for the summer, people always ask one thing about my coaching…
“How hard will this be?”
Well let me share this with you……Calum featured in the image below. After following his engine phase he shifted his focus from being all or nothing.
And here’s the class thing about this result…
…not once did Calum have too: Miss out on social eventsFeel like he wasn’t eating crap all the time and feeling crap, but also not have balance.Think that he was going to binge after long days and ruin progressFeel like he wasn’t able to keep up the progress
Feel like training was about breaking himselfInfact Calum shared some of the wins he needed to do shift 15lbs in 6 weeks.
Inside our team phase 1 is building a engine, that is about training you to form habits and needs to help you push your fitness.
It builds such a strong base that you only go from strength to strength!Calum went from skipping workouts and feeling s**t to never missing one.
That’s how ‘hard’ this will be.
Have a look at his 30 wins in 30 days.
If you think going to a football game, getting back into 5s, confidence in pushing your fitness and having more energy to create a better work life balance would help you.
Drive you, give you back your confidence and drive back into your body.
Understand this, we are not about quick fixes, we are not cheerleaders.
Programming is a serious strength of our coaching, we dial in to facilitate optimum recovery and enable you to grow from strength to strength.
We dont just play with numbers, we do what is right.Calum in 30 days, optimised his body and in 6 weeks lost 15lbs because he lived a healthy balance.
And you're curious if/how this can work for you - feel free to drop me a PM.
We’ve already covered the ‘will this be hard work’ question…
Reality is the hard part is how long are you putting off getting started…

My tips to keeping lean all year.
Im going to share my nutrition staples that keep me practicality wise in shape.
Before I do, the real truth, distortion is the real struggle.
I’m not going to harp on reality is we know the difference between a chocolate bar and veg.
When things get on top of you, it’s hard to make better choices.
As a guy, it’s easy to suppress how you feel and just get on with it.
The cost of this can be high- I almost paid the ultimate cost, would have lost everything.
Just because you are tough, actually the thing that caused me to fall off plan was that I just suppressed emotion.
Put on the face that I was happy and getting after it- came off as arrogant.
It’s an act- when you realise that we all develop coping mechanisms.
My old coping skills was I just ate s**t, which caused drops in energy that I covered up by training and working to limits, I guess I was materialistic.
I thought I didn’t have something..
So, the first step is stop being a Neanderthal and trying to be hard, be real.
If you are stressed chill out so you don’t get pi**ed off and then just eat s**te.
I like to just go in get my zone on as I’m training because I need it just as much as anyone, headphones in and do it for you.
Because then applying this is easy as your not distorted ⬇️
➡️Build each meal round a lean protein source
➡️ Have 2/3 portions fruit or veg
➡️ Use the remaining calories to fill the meal, if that means you want something sweet cool have it with these cals
➡️ If you are emotional or anxious, eating crap will cause the lull energy while it’s a short term gets you by, eat better in these times
➡️ Ensure you do s**t that you enjoy, just don’t act the goat to cover up needing help.
➡️ Don’t train like a wet towel, it’s useless, charge up and go and smash your goals.
Be humble, stay strong and lift like a machine.
Plenty of miles left in the wheels.
Need a hand drop me a dm always here to help➡️🤘

Are you fed up of hearing eat less move more from other coaches?
Inside our team so many of our clients start from calories in calories out and wonder why it didn’t work.
Some felt like a freak of nature and something is wrong with them because it sounded so simple.
They were not a freak.
When really it's they are stretched from pillar to post, and burnt out before the finish line.
I know how it can feel being burnt out and trying to live off hitting a calorie goal and keep your s**t together while training.
It can be hard.
There are two main methods to create a calorie deficit.
1 Long and steady- (Steady and consistent)
&
2 Blast and cruise- (Aggressive)
Both methods will get you to the goal, both also need require you to get fitter.
If you are stretched and exhausted a blast and cruise just to shift weight fast is often what we want.
It isn’t always the best way to go,
When deciding which method, here is some keys to think of.
If you struggle with meal planning, sticking g to plan.. Blasting isn't going to fit your busy lifestyle because it’s demands a lot.
It demands alot of prep work, dedication and really zero out stresses from work… saying no.
Taking a steady approach that gets you there is more manageable and build consistency.
The difference is how aggressive you are in the early stages really.
The best way to check which is for you
Are you someone who can stick to something for more than one month…
If not, steady is the way to go.
Create sustainable habits that enable you to accelerate the process.
An example of how things can change…
I said for years I am not a runner, really I didn’t enjoy it because I only sprinted and burnt out.
When I started to manage the pace… I was able to enjoy it.
Nutrtion is the exact same, if you can’t sustain it it’s not going to change you.
I did my first 10km event this year.
With kid coming in, I am going to need to be able to run as it keeps me on my toes.
Learn to enjoy your food and have balance.
Have you ever tried something and found it to hard to stick to?
If you struggle with nutrtion, drop a like I will send you a free guide to help

What a week…
In the commonwealth games, when that gunshot goes…
You need to focus on the now.
Turn all your attention to the event, it’s time to make it happen.
If you are caught looking at what everyone else does, you will always struggle.
This week…
First the updates- injury groin took a beating in Wednesday at 5s.
After some tlc and mobility it’s getting back in track.
Strength progress this week wasn’t massive, swim endurance ok.
This week is an energy protection week. as numbers were a graft.
I need to earn the progress this week by being more focused the fundamentals.
In a coaching context I started working with coaches to upgrade their coaching services.
A strength of mine is creating programmes to peak performances
The Conquer Programming is there to help coaches offer high performing programmes for their clients.
Coaches often struggle with confidence and don’t talk about it.
Training is a language to me, maximising performance is a progressive practice.
Inside our team, we have our Unleash your Alpha training on Monday.
Inside the team, we had some electric results.
Alison who recently joined has seen a massive shift in her confidence as she loves her plan as she has her mojo and health back.
David is just about to set the bar for his 5k row.
Ryan has set some astronomical strength goals, body changes are looking mega.
Fiona has come back from holiday and ready to rock!
Jamie is 10lbs down and pushing incredible progress in his running and no hip or knee troubles.
Callum is setting himself up for a super shred.
Barb inspired by the commonwealth weight lifting, is on a mission to overcome a weight plateau.
Stevie is on his quest to conquer Scotlands Munro’s bagging another 2.
Inside our team, we don’t wait for changes to be made.
We make it happen.
On Monday we are set to unlock your Alpha.
This is so you can navigate through the stress of the challenges that inevitably lie in front.
If you want to make a change, make it happen.
Unlock your Alpha!
Have a mega one👊

Here is the current update.
At this current moment I am not focusing on body comp.
Mentally processing becoming a dad, running a business.
Last night, I was reading the magazine and it was so exciting.
Baby coming… then turn the page and it’s all about “crowning”…
Not sure if I was prepared for the graphic image 😂.
With so much dad prep.
I have just been dialling in the foundations, keeping it simple has enable me to push fitness levels massively at a manageable level.
Manage work so much better.
All because I hit a step goal and train regular and upgrade foot choices.
You need to anchor yourself through stressful times.
You don’t need to be pushing everywhere, actually progress is made when you stabilise.
Strength is harder to work on as mentally I am thinking about dad life.
Swimming, football all stabilise me, so strength I am hitting simple targets.
The result of stabilising and learning to stabilise under stress:
Anxiety level 4/10
Stress 5/10
Food 6/10
Training 7/10
Let’s be real… Fear of failing as a dad 1000000/10 that just the negative inside us.
The self doubt badger.
So current actions.
1- talking about what I am afraid of so I can overcome it.
2- do things that build me up, avoid burnout
3- do less of the s**t that puts me down.
4- spend downtime before I go into stress actions.
Appreciate all the support messages I have been getting.
Mission dad is getting closer.
Baby- we are going to have a world of fun
