Did you know seals can be pretty crafty when it comes to taking a quiet nap?

We had a BDMLR callout today to go and check on a seal in the River Forth by Alloa. A member of the public had called in thinking it might have gotten stuck for a few days in an object floating in the river, but we were able to reassure them that the seal will just have been taking a nap in the sun by climbing up on the buoy between catching fish.

Lovely warm sunshine, a quiet spot where you can't be bothered, and lots of tasty food when you roll out of bed; sounds like a good place to be!

(The seal was actually off the buoy when we arrived, but there was one swimming nearby, so here's another photo of a happy seal in the sun!)

A busy week for manager Callum with the BDMLR Large Whale Disentanglement Team.

Helping with the selection of new team members last weekend, an alert to Orkney at the start of the week that got cancelled, and the past few days chasing a Humpback at Blyth that unfortunately they didn't manage to find even with multiple air support.

We are proud to support the BDMLR with our time and equipment.

If you'd like to get involved with protecting and rescuing marine wildlife then visit their website or FB page to find out more.

Finishing up assisting Dollar Academy with their DofE program today.

They have done amazingly well to give their pupils the chance to achieve their awards this year, dealing with all the changes that had to be put in place.

To complete almost 950 expedition participant days is a real credit to their staff.

(Also, the weather has been rather nice the past few weeks; definitely some good tans been gained!)

GOOD SUP NEWS!

We've just had an update that everything we need to finish our new SUP fleet is about to be picked from the latest stock arrival at the Mcconks warehouse.

By the time they've added all the bits that will kit out the fleet, and the spares to keep it on the water, it'll be a delivery of around 60 items; it may be completely the other end of the year, but it's definitely going to feel like Christmas opening the packaging!

A day off? Nope!

As part of hopes to bring a community dinghy sailing club to Gartmorn Dam, we've been out carrying out depth measuring of the reservoir now that the water level starts to drop for summer; wouldn't want them to run around!

While we were out we also picked up some of the lifesaving public rescue equipment that vandals have thrown into the water in the last weeks...
