PAIR OF ELM OIL LIGHT CANDLES
A matching pair of Elm oil burner 'candles'. These work like most oil lights but they burn very cleanly. So cleanly they're often called 'church lights' because they don't produce odours and burn for a long time. The 'wick' on these is made up of thousands of optic fibres which don't 'burn' themselves but just act as a wick for the oil which burns giving off the 'candle' effect but without the candle smells. Because the optic fibres don't burn they don't need replacing periodically. All you need is to refill the glass container every so often. A great replacement for tea lights and candles, and giving the same ambience.
These have just been turned - no colouring, no additions or resin. Just the simple, beautiful grain of Elm with the attractive 'tulip' shaped top.
Their height is 13.5cm (5.25 inches), 16cm (6.25 inches) including the oil lamp. Bases are 6.5cm (2.5 inches) Width at the tops is 5.5cm (almost 2.25 inches).
A unique pairing as both were made from a single piece of Elm.

PLUM BARK BOWL
I would say this is a highly decorative or ornamental piece, rather than practical but it does depend on what the new owner decides.
It's turned from a twenty year old piece of Plum. It's aged beautifully and has a dark, many-hued, colouration ranging from a light brown through to a deep red.
The original piece was half a 'log' and it has been turned to leave most of the bark in place. This gives a more natural look that some people like. The grain stands out and if you're into natural wood and beautiful grain, this bowl provides that.
It measures (approximately because of the shape) 13cm wide (5 inches), and is, at the highest point, 7cm high (2.75 inches), and lowest point is 5cm high (2 inches), and it is 5cm deep (2 inches).
A lovely, decorative, natural, piece.

ZEBRANO OIL BURNER CANDLE
This is another oil burner candle.
It's turned from Zebrano which has a really beautiful stripy grain pattern of light and dark browns, sanded really smooth and polished to a nice lustre.
It measures 15cm across (6 inches) and is 4.5cm high (1.75 inches), 7cm (2.75 inches) with the oil lamp.

LACEWOOD OIL BURNER CANDLE
This is another oil burner candle. These work like most oil lights but they burn very cleanly. So cleanly they're often called 'church lights' because they don't produce odours and burn for a long time. The 'wick' on these is made up of thousands of optic fibres which don't 'burn' themselves but just act as a wick for the oil which burns, giving off the 'candle' effect but without the candle smells. A great replacement for tea lights and candles, and giving the same ambience.
This has been turned, sanded, and then stained using Spirit Stains which sink into the wood rather than, like paint, just covering the outer surface. The purple stain has then been overlaid with a gilt cream with a slight copper hue to it which catches the light and gives off shinier reflections contrasting the deep purple. The piece has then been waxed and polished.
It measures 16cm high (6.25 inches), 19cm with the oil lamp (7.5 inches) and 7cm across the base and top (almost 3 inches).

ELM BOWL WITH RESIN INLAY
Elm is a beautiful wood and this is another one-off try-out that's a bargain if it suits your style and taste.
It's had a channel cut into it near the rim and this has been filled with coloured resin. It's then been turned, sanded smooth, protected with hard wax oil and then polished. Sadly, the resin hasn't retained a consistent colouration but apart from that hasn't cracked or split. It measures 17cm across (almost 6.75 inches), is 7cm high (2.75 inches), and 5.5cm deep (just over 2 inches).
This also has a tempting one-off price as well.

MACROCARPA SPIRIT STAINED OIL BURNER CANDLE
This is a one-off try-out, and a bargain if it suits your style.
Macrocarpa is a durable, versatile, and eco-friendly New Zealand-grown softwood. This piece has been turned, sanded, Spirit Stained then treated with sealer and melamine lacquer before being waxed and polished. The coloured stains are mainly greens and oranges, with varying shades of each that mingle to create a pleasing, nature-inspired, colouration.
It measures 19cm across (7.5 inches) and is 4.5cm high (1.75 inches), rising to 7cm (2.73 inches) with the oil lamp.
The oil lamp in this piece has an ordinary cotton wick that will, eventually, need replacing. Otherwise, it's the same as other lamps I've made recently - it works like most oil lights but burns very cleanly. So cleanly they're often called 'church lights' because they don't produce odours and burn for a long time. All you need is to refill the glass container every so often. A great replacement for tea lights and candles, and giving the same ambience.
A one-off price as well.

CEDAR OF LEBANON OMBRE - AMBER TO RED - OIL BURNER CANDLE
This is quite colourful. It's an oil burner 'candle' but has been coloured with Spirit Stains. The colours are chosen to represent the heat of a flame - ranging from orange to red. It's topped with an oil burner candle. A great replacement for tea lights and candles, and giving the same ambience.
It measures 18cm high (7 inches), and the oil lamp takes it to 21cm (8.25 inches). The base and top are 7cm across (2.75 inches).
A hot item!

SMALL CHERRY TEALIGHT
Exactly what it says. A small piece of Cherry left from another job. I kept it because it would 'come in handy'. It's got a lovely grain with several colours running through it. It is small - just 6.5 cm high (2.5 inches), and measures 7cm across the base (2.75 inches), rising to 6.5 across the top (2.5 inches) but beautiful. It's got a silver coloured metal tea light holder set into the top.
A small price as well.

SMALL LABURNUM BOWL
This is a lovely piece of Laburnum. The grain really stands out with many shades and swirls.
I describe it as a 'small' bowl but it measures 15cm wide (6 inches) and 4.5 cm high (1.75 inches), with an interior that mirrors the shape of the exterior - a pleasing 'tulip' shape.
It's been sanded very smooth and coated with Beeswax and Carnauba Wax, then polished.
A lovely piece.
