7's rugby chaos, space, and moments that matter. π
Forwards covering miles, backs eyeing up space you donβt get in the 15s game, all mixed with power, pace, and skill to keep the ball alive.
Our U17s were outstanding on the day:
Wins over Burnley (44-7), Caldy (24-14), and Bowdon (33-7) saw us top the group unbeaten.
Into the semi-final, Waterloo were beaten (31-14), setting up a final against another unbeaten side, Trafford MV.
A tough battle, but the boys showed real character to take the win (21-14).
An unreal day that reflects this groupβs work ethic and selfless attitude, even supporting other teams when needed.
Big mentions to Ollie M, Seb, Jack Hunter & Lachlan for key moments throughout the day

A brilliant day of rugby 7s at Heaton Moor π
U14s Heaton Hurricanes won the Plate and Moor Mavericks were runners up in the Cup. π
They were brave and all had brilliant team spirit throughout. We are grateful to Burnage, Wilmslow, Stockport, Broughton Park and the Cup winners, Lynn, for joining us to make an amazing festival of rugby.
U17s won the Cup (obvs). They were awesome. π
We are delighted to showcase the wealth of rugby talent and opportunity at HMRUFC. The Heaton Moor boys were ace this weekend! πͺ
Very grateful to the Adam and Emma Reid, the club and Chris Barrett for helping us organise and host such a special day.

What a weekend!
Our U9s went on tour this weekend and came back having given absolutely everything. On the pitch at the festival, they were brilliant. Physical, fast, and dominant, playing together as a team in tough, hot conditions. Every single one of them dug deep and delivered. Watching them was a genuine privilege.
Off the pitch, PGL gave them climbing, orienteering, and games in beautiful sunshine that childhood memories are made of.
To every one of our U9s: you should be very proud of yourselves. We certainly are. πβοΈ

Last night, it was our Under 12s turn to be put through their paces by our Development Coaches Zander and Adam. The Backs focused on handling, moves and getting the ball into space, while the Forwards focused on their work around the breakdown and defensive line.
Great session!

Heaton Moor U15 hosted Manchester on Sunday, resulting in a fantastic 27 - 7 victory for our boys.
They delivered a performance to be proud of, not just because of the result, but because of the way every single player approached the game. From the first whistle to the last, the effort, attitude and togetherness on show were outstanding. Every player committed fully to their role, worked for one another and showed exactly what it truly means to play as a team.
Each week, the we ask for commitment, courage, resilience, self-belief, teamwork and intensity. Those qualities were evident throughout this performance and ultimately proved to be the difference on the day.
Rugby is a game of small moments, and it is a teamβs willingness to do what it takes to win those moments, that ultimately decides the outcome.
Just as important, the boys enjoyed themselves, playing with smiles on their faces while giving everything!!

Heaton Moor U8βs travelled to Manchester on Sunday to play a tri fixture with Sandbach. This was our second tri fixture in two weeks and you could see the vast improvements already in 2026 after a long break due to the cold snap and Christmas.
Our players represented Heaton Moor exceptionally well. They played hard but fair throughout, scoring some exceptional tries. We made lots and lots of tags from start to finish and our concentration was second to none.
We could really see the awareness of space on the pitch starting to be seen by a significant cohort which made us stand out from our opponents. Core skills were also evident throughout, with the ability to pass the ball into space, allowing our teams to score lots of tries on the smaller pitches this week.
Our Player of the Week was William, who as always leads from the front and sets the standards for everyone else to follow.
Well done to all involved on a great morning of rugby.

Last Sunday was the first official fixture for the joint U11s team of Heaton Moor and Manchester Rugby Clubs, at Glossop Winter Festival.
After collaborating on a few training sessions at the end of 2025, it was great to see the players turn their shirts inside out and play as one team for the first time. They played increasingly well together as the afternoon progressed and had fun together in between games too.
We predict lots of enjoyment and great rugby instore for these new teammates!
