At the end of the afternoon, with all matches played only 5 games separated the top three teams, which is incredible given 420 games were played. In third place were Team O with 59 games, in second were Team S with 60 games but with 64 Team M were the winners. Congratulations to Captain, Mark Hampson and his excellent team of Neil Laidlow, Mo Abdelrahman, Michael and Katie Hudson-Davies, Anna Pullar and Jill Carswell.

On Sunday in glorious sunshine we had our 2nd John Hampson Tournament, in memory of a lovely man who loved his tennis and his apes tennis social, who we lost suddenly last year to an aortic aneurysm. We had a day he would have throughly enjoyed -64 players on court in a rainbow of colours playing some amazing tennis. 84 matches - some superb serves, fantastic forehands, brilliant backhands, very good volleys and remarkable rallies .....

After Finals Day, there is always Presentation Night ..... and what a night we had!

Last match of the day Cath Shelmerdine and Elaine Lowe were taking on fellow first teamers, Emma Lingard and Nadine Hughes .....Nadine had only stepped off a plane returning from holiday the hour before! She was flying high though because Emma and Nadine came out winners 6-2, 6-3.

Another closely fought Mixed Doubles was taking place on Court 2 - Amanda Sutherland Robison and Adam Robison against Tom Beckwith and Emma Lingard. This was the only final to go to three sets ... Adam and Amanda won the first set 6-2 but then Tom and Emma came back and won the second by the same scoreline .... everything on the third set ...... keeping it consistent Adam and Amanda won 6-2!

It was freezing by now alongside Court 1 but we had more blistering matches to watch - starting with the Mens Open Doubles - a first team v second team clash and the rivalry was out in force with the second team rallying round to support Mark Sutherland and Sam Johnson as they took on first teamers, Adam Robison and Michael Belshaw. It didn't intimidate Adam and Mike though, they retained their title with a 6-4 6-3 win. Sam and Suthie will be back next year!

As the temperature droppied on Finals Day, the tennis hotted up! On Court one - the big one began; the Mens Open Singles. Adam Robison finished coaching, had a bacon buttie (the breakfast of all grand slam finalists I believe) and he was set to play. Arber, our second Gashi of the day (no relation!) had played an outstanding and close semi earlier in the week, so was ready and up for this one ..... some brilliant tennis; the first set went to Adam 6-2. Into the second .... what a battle with Adam eventually winning a tie break to win the match and retain his title!
