โญ๏ธ In our Level 3 classes we have been using the Pilates circle to add some ๐ฅ to the traditional exercises.
๐๐ป Itโs a great way to challenge those muscles and leave feeling lengthened & strengthened โบ๏ธ
Howโs your balance ?๐ค
In our Physio-Led Pilates classes we always include standing exercises which challenge our balance ๐๐ป
๐ฆต๐ปWe often donโt test our balance until we lose it and have a wobble or fall over
- As we all get older good balance is essential to reduce our risk of falls and injury
- Balance exercises are also really important to help maintain bone density ๐ฆด
- Improved balance can also reduce your risk of injury during sporting activities ๐พ ๐ ๐ ๐ โฝ๏ธ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ
- Balance exercises can be practised through the day, standing on 1 leg whilst brushing your teeth ๐ชฅ or making your โ๏ธ (remember to hold on for support to begin with)
- Give yourself a goal I.e. 5 seconds on each leg and increase to 10 seconds as able.

Another Super Saturday of Physio-Led Pilates Classes ! ๐๐ป
Hereโs a great example of how to build strength & endurance in the quadriceps (thigh) an gastrocnemius & soleus (calf) muscles

Feet wider than hips and toes turned out
โ
Ensure level pelvis and maintain position throughout
โ
Keep your chest lifted
โ
Choose how low you want to go down and hold your squat (lower = more strength & ๐ฅ in those muscles)
โ
Hold squat position and slowly lift one heel up and then down on each side Repeat x6
โ
Then both heels up and down at same time x6
๐๐ป To build the endurance repeat x2-3 sets and get those legs feeling ๐ฅ๐ช๐ป๐๐ป๐ฅฐ๐ง๐ผโโ๏ธ

๐ง๐ผโโ๏ธ ๐Exercise really is the best medicine ๐๐ฅฐ
โ๏ธ This time of year can be particularly difficult for many reasons.
โ๏ธ As a summer person I always struggle with the dark mornings and evenings. It really can affect your energy levels, mood & motivation.
๐ฃ These are my top tips for maintaining well being during the dark, colder months:
โ
Exerciseโฆ.. Exercise โฆโฆ. Exercise
When we exercise we produce feel good chemicals in the body ๐ Endorphins & Serotonin ๐ these chemicals boost our mood & have a role in managing pain.
๐Any movement is good movement!!!
โ
Try and get some natural daylight โ๏ธ Even just a 10 minute walk outside can be enough to give us a boostโฆ. A short walk at lunch time can feel really good ๐
โ
Stay hydrated โฆ. Our bodies are 75% water ๐ง so if we are dehydrated this can affect all of our body systems, especially our thinking & concentration ๐ง
โ
Fuel yourself wellโฆ.. ๐ฅ Slow release foods can be helpful to sustain energy such as non-starchy vegetables (e.g. cauliflower, broccoli and spinach) brown rice, oats, cereals, nuts and seeds. ๐ฅฆ ๐ฅ

Stay connected ๐ฃ๏ธ itโs always good to talk! Make time to speak to friends & family, a good chat can always make us feel better!
