THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS ARE FINALLY OVER. 😂🙌

Mums… grandparents… carers…

We made it. 😂

Six weeks of:
🍦 “Can I have a snack?”
🏖️ “What are we doing today?”
🚗 “Are we nearly there yet?”
🧺 Washing. SO. MUCH. WASHING.
🍝 And somehow feeding people approximately 47 times a day.

And as much as we adore our little darlings…

I think we can all agree that getting some routine back feels pretty bloody good. 😂

So if you’re waving them back through the school gates today thinking:

“Right… now what about me?”

Well, now is the perfect time to start thinking about YOU again.

Getting back into a routine.
Getting yourself moving.
Getting stronger.
Getting your energy back.
And, quite simply, getting yourself feeling like YOU again. 💚

And actually, something one of my lovely clients, Mel, said to me today really stuck with me.

She told me that she genuinely feels like she belongs in my group sessions. That she can come in, be completely herself and never feel judged.

And honestly… that’s exactly what I want my sessions to feel like.

Yes, we’re there to train.
Yes, I’ll push you.
Yes, you’ll probably work harder than you thought you could. 😂

But you should also feel comfortable being yourself, have a laugh, and feel like you’re part of something.

So if you’ve been saying:

“I’ll get back into it when the kids go back to school…”

Today’s the day. 😉

I have limited availability on my morning sessions, but I’ve also introduced a brand-new Wednesday 12pm 45-minute session — perfect for getting your training done while the kids are at school.

If you’ve been thinking about getting back into a routine, getting stronger and finding a place where you actually enjoy coming to train…

September could be your time.

Drop me a message and I’ll let you know what’s currently available. 💜💚

Today I’m sharing something incredibly personal, with kind permission from one of our amazing members, Caroline.

A few weeks ago, Caroline went for her routine breast screening. She had no lump, no pain and no symptoms. Thanks to that screening, doctors found breast cancer at a very early stage.

As someone who carries the BRCA1 gene and has a strong family history of breast cancer, Caroline has been attending annual screenings since she was 26. After further tests and a biopsy, she received the news no one wants to hear.

The positive news is that it has been caught early, giving her the very best chance of successful treatment. Caroline is now preparing for surgery and facing the weeks ahead with incredible courage and honesty.

The reason she wanted me to share her story is simple…

💕Please don’t ignore your screening invitations.💕

And don’t wait until you think something is wrong. Caroline had no symptoms at all. Her cancer was only found because she attended her routine screening.

Please also keep checking your breasts regularly and speak to your GP if you notice anything unusual. Early detection really can save lives.

If you’d like to follow Caroline’s journey, learn more about her experience and support her along the way, scan the QR code in the images or head over to her Instagram page, which I’ve tagged in this post. She’ll be sharing both the highs and the lows with her usual honesty and positivity.

Caroline, thank you for trusting me to share your story. Everyone at Mel Duffy Fitness is behind you, and I know our amazing community will be too. 💗

If you feel comfortable, please leave Caroline a message of love and encouragement below. I’m sure she’d appreciate knowing just how many people are rooting for her. 💕

Four years ago today, a lady turned up to a trial session in Cale Green Park… and got pooped on by a pigeon. 🐦💩😂

I remember driving home afterwards saying to Rick, “Well… she’s definitely not coming back!”

Thankfully, I was very, very wrong.

Four years later, Penny is still here. Not only is she one of my original members, she’s become one of my closest friends.

We’re definitely not the same person. In fact, we’re completely different in so many ways… but somehow we just work. She’s the yin to my yang. We’re both wonderfully wacky, impulsive in our own ways, and together we spend most of our time either laughing until we cry or wondering how we’ve managed to get ourselves into yet another random situation. 😂💜

But this post isn’t just about Penny.

It’s about what can happen when you walk through the door, even if you’re nervous, don’t know anyone, or feel completely out of your comfort zone.

People often think they’re joining because they want to lose weight, get fitter or get stronger.

And yes… that happens.

But what they don’t expect is the friendships.

The women who genuinely celebrate your wins as if they’re their own. The people who check in on you when you’ve been quiet. The laughs between sets. The chats after class. The confidence that grows not just because you’re lifting heavier weights, but because you’re surrounded by people who want to see you do well.

Watching this community grow from a few women training in a park to what it is today has honestly been one of the greatest privileges of my life.

It’s never just been about fitness.

It’s about belonging.

It’s about women supporting women.

It’s about showing up for yourself, while knowing there’s a whole room of people ready to cheer you on too.

Happy 4-year Fitversary, Pen. 💜 Thank you for taking a chance on that first trial session, surviving the infamous pigeon attack 🤣, and becoming such a huge part of this little community. I honestly can’t imagine it without you.

Here’s to many more years of lifting weights, laughing far too loudly, and proving that sometimes the best friendships start in the most unexpected ways. 💜

A little Wednesday reminder… 💜🌿

I’m going to be completely honest… lately I’ve felt really dysregulated.

There’s been a lot going on all at once.

🏡 Selling the house and constant viewings.
🥵 The relentless heat.
😴 Broken sleep.
🐶 Getting Teddy out early before it gets too hot.
🏋️‍♀️ My own training routine has gone out of the window.
🎓 Caitlin graduating.
🏫 Elilah preparing for Year 3.
🏡 Amy being back home.

None of these things are bad on their own, but when they all pile up together, my ADHD brain can start to feel like it’s running way too many tabs at once.

This morning, instead of trying to “push through”, I slowed down on my walk and used one of my favourite grounding techniques to help calm my nervous system.

💜 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding

👀 5 things you can see.
👂 4 things you can hear.
✋ 3 things you can feel.
👃 2 things you can smell.
👅 1 thing you can taste.

It sounds so simple, but it gently pulls your mind away from all the “what ifs” and back into the present moment. It helps tell your brain that you’re safe, and for me, it takes the volume down on the mental noise.

Sometimes we think we need a massive reset…

But often it’s a five-minute walk, a few deep breaths, noticing the world around us, a glass of water before your coffee and abstaining from your phone for the first hour you wake, or simply giving ourselves permission to stop for a minute.

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, anxious, emotional or just a bit “off” recently… you’re definitely not the only one.

Be kind to yourself today. Your nervous system might just be asking for a little care, not another thing to tick off your to-do list. 💜

One last workout before she becomes a Mrs… 💍❤️

This morning, we gave our gorgeous Clare the send-off she deserves before she flies to Cyprus tomorrow to marry the love of her life! 🇨🇾✈️

Of course, we couldn’t let her leave without putting her through one final session… and then lifting her up for a celebratory photo! 😂💜

One of my favourite things about this community is that it has become so much more than a place to exercise. We’ve celebrated birthdays, personal bests, weight loss milestones, new jobs, babies, holidays… and now a wedding.

Clare, thank you for letting us be a tiny part of such an exciting chapter in your life. We hope you have the most incredible day, make memories you’ll treasure forever, and soak up every single second.

From all of your Mel Duffy Fitness girls… good luck and a huge congratulations! 🥂💍💜

Now go and enjoy every moment… we’ll see you when you’re back as a Mrs 💜🎉💜🎉

📢 Group PT Trial Update

What a year it’s been already!

Thanks to another fantastic intake of new members during June group trial sessions are now closed throughout July and August.

With the summer holidays bringing lots of annual leave, childcare and changing routines, I’d rather focus on giving my existing members the best experience possible than squeezing in new trials that won’t give you a true feel for how our groups normally run.

Group trials will reopen in September when I’ll be hopefully adding some new session times to the schedule and everyone is back into a routine. 💜

Already booked onto a trial? Don’t worry – your trial will still go ahead as planned.

If you don’t want to wait until September, I do have availability for 1:1 Personal Training. Whether you’re brand new to strength training, want more confidence before joining a group, or simply prefer individual coaching, I’d love to help.

Just drop me a message if you’d like to find out more or to book an initial consultation. 💪

This morning I woke up at 5:30.

Not because I wanted to “be productive.”

Not because I was trying to burn calories.

And definitely not because I was punishing myself for the last few weeks.

The truth is, life has felt a bit out of balance recently.

The heatwave completely knocked me off track. Between the lack of sleep, the relentless heat and trying to coach sessions safely, I found myself overwhelmed. As someone with ADHD, when my routine disappears and I’m exhausted, I know I find it much harder to look after myself in the way I usually do.

I’d started relying on things that I know don’t actually make me feel my best, and I’d begun looking for reasons why I wasn’t feeling like myself.

So instead of starting another strict plan or telling myself to “get a grip”, I asked a different question…

What would looking after myself actually look like?

This morning it looked like:
🌿 A quiet walk before the world woke up.
🌿 Twenty minutes of stretching and mobility.
🌿 Planning my day with a coffee.
🌿 Breakfast.
🌿 Walking my daughter to school.
🌿 Coaching my ladies.
🌿 Walking home afterwards.
🌿 Walking Teddy.

Nothing extreme.

Nothing glamorous.

Just a series of small choices that helped me feel calmer, clearer and more like me.

I think so many women believe a “reset” has to involve cutting everything out, punishing workouts or trying to become a completely different person overnight.

But maybe a reset isn’t about becoming someone new.

Maybe it’s about returning to the habits that remind you who you are.

Today reminded me that consistency is far more powerful than perfection.

If you’re feeling a bit lost or overwhelmed, don’t ask yourself, “How do I fix everything?”

Ask yourself…

“What’s one kind thing I can do for myself today?”

Sometimes that’s where the real reset begins. 💜

One of the most underrated exercises for women…

The Deadbug 🐞

Not because it looks impressive.

Not because you’ll feel your abs burning.

But because it teaches your core to do what it’s actually designed to do: stabilise your spine while you move.

Benefits include:

✔️ Better core strength
✔️ Improved posture
✔️ More support for your lower back
✔️ Better balance and coordination
✔️ A stronger foundation for every other exercise

Most women think core training means crunches and sit-ups.

In reality, learning to properly brace and control your core is often the missing piece.

Simple? Yes.

Easy? Not always.

Effective? Absolutely.

Here’s Clare putting in the work and building strength from the inside out 💪

👭 Ladies-Only Small Group Strength Training

One of the best things about coaching women in their 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond…
is watching them realise they are capable of FAR more than they thought.

Annie is currently combining small group PT with 1:1 coaching in the lead up to her 40th birthday and is absolutely smashing it 🔥

No extremes.
No punishment.
No trying to make herself smaller.

Just building strength, confidence, fitness and resilience step by step 👏

And honestly… this version of “fit” is the one I wish more women were shown.

Strong.
Capable.
Empowered.
And still fully living life.

Ladies-only training here in Hazel Grove 📍
Beginners always welcome ❤️
