T20 campaign gets off to a flyer!!

Tonight we hosted Hazel Grove in our first T20 match of the season. On winning the toss captain Stewart chose to bat. Stewart 42 and Melnyk 52 got the boys off to a fast start with an 80 run partnership before McCarthy 30 hit 2 huge sixes to help the guys post 155.

In the chase we strangled the boundaries before Mike McCarthy burgled himself 4-9 leaving the visitors 35 short 💥

It was the quarter final of the DCCL High Peak Cup for the ladies tonight and they hosted a division 1 Stalybridge Ladies team.

High Lane won the toss and elected to field first. With some incredible bowling and fantastic fielding, the ladies kept the pressure on Stalybridge keeping many of their runs to singles. Taking some great wickets bowling and catches in the field, backing everything up, they kept Stalybridge to a net total of 275- an incredible achievement against a first division team.

It was the turn for High Lane Ladies to bat. Stalybridge had a strong bowling attack and High Lane put up a good fight, running the singles where they could and some incredible boundaries, including an amazing 6 for Izzy E. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t High Lane’s night and they ended on a net total of 251.

Our star performer of the evening was our captain, Becky, who led from the front with a superb batting display, finding the gaps and running tirelessly between the wickets.

While it wasn’t our night, every player can be incredibly proud of the fight, determination and teamwork shown throughout the match. It was a fantastic effort from all the ladies and a performance that made everyone proud to be part of High Lane Ladies CC.

A huge thank you to everyone who came down to support from the boundary. Your encouragement means so much to the team.
