Dear all

We want to bring to your attention an event the club are organising in memory of Andrew Cohen who sadly passed away in December 2017. As we all know Andrew did an enormous amount for both the club and the wider community in both a footballing sense and a social one and was a huge driving force behind making sure South Manchester Sports Club is where it is today. The Club is a thriving hub for members of various local communities and, for South Manchester football club in particular, it has become a home for players young and old to enjoy their passion.

We therefore think it’s only right to throw an amazing event to remember the incredible person that Andrew was, the role he played in so many of our lives, both directly and indirectly, and to also raise a load of money for The Andrew Cohen Foundation at the same time, to ensure his legacy continues.

What are we doing?

We will be hosting a 24 hour football match, (yes, you heard correctly) along with a huge family fun day over the 2 days for everyone to be involved in. The football is available for anyone to play, from the age of under 9’s through to open age. We will ensure players will be playing at the same time as others of their own age group and that all Under 18’s will be participating during ‘sociable’ hours.

Where will it be?

The event will take place at South Manchester Sports Club, St Ann’s Road North, Cheadle, SK8 4RZ.

When will it be?

The event will run from 12 noon on Saturday 27thJune, through to 3pm on Sunday 28th June. The footballing aspect will likely run from 1 pm on the Saturday, through to 1pm on the Sunday.

We are expecting around 500 people to be at the centre over the course of the event, which is testament to the amazing person that Andrew was.

There will also be a commemorative programme which will be available for purchase on the day. We would like to encourage as many of you as possible, who either have their own business or know of any business who would be interested, to take a space in the programme. The sponsorship prices are as follows:

£250 half page
£500 full page.

Please also note that we will be offering the opportunity for up to 4 businesses to sponsor the whole event. This means your company branding will be on all our marketing between now and the event, including the day of the event and you will have the chance to hand out some of the various prizes on the day. To be a headline sponsor of the event, the cost will be £1,500.

If you are interested in sponsorship, please email us on……. to advise which sponsorship package you are interested in taking and we will send you a link to make the appropriate payment.

If you and / or your children / your team would be keen to take part in the football side of the event, the cost for this is £25 per person. Please send £25 to our Paypal account (link below) and once payment has been made, follow up with an email to the following email address…. to advise the full name/s of the participants and their current age group.

The deadline for registering your interest in both the football and any sponsorship opportunities is Friday 15th May.

We also have a Justgiving page set up for the Andrew Cohen Foundation for anyone who would like to donate. We would really appreciate it if you could all spread this link across your social media channels to help raise as much as we can for this wonderful cause.

We trust you will help to spread the word and get on board with what is sure to be an amazing event. Please register your interest quickly as there are limited places available.

There will be plenty more exciting news and updates to follow over the coming weeks and months so please follow us on
