BJJ Basics class for those new to the sport. For more infomation visit http://factorybjj.com/

We did it! 🥳🥳 24 hours complete!

We had somewhere in the region of 250-300 people involved throughout the event and the current total raised for @samuelsmission_todoitall is over £5000!

This was a huge team effort and something that makes me so proud of the community we have at the gym.

Thank you so much to all the volunteers, staff, coaches and members for pitching in, donating and getting on the mats at all hours of the day!

There is still time donate if you haven't! The final total will be announced later this week.

This week in our Advanced Classes we are looking at some common Point Deficit Drills.

Whether you compete or not, these sessions are a great way to build effective game plans and strategies from various 'losing' positions.

We will be doing a bunch of situational rounds so you can fine tune your own game, plus I will show my prefered options from each positon too.

The classes are 7pm Tuesday and 6pm Thursday, so get yourself booked in! 🙌

Yesterday was exactly 20 Years since I started training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

I’m not one to celebrate milestones or birthdays usually, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come.

I still have very fond memories of my early sessions at Stockport Submission Fighting.

I was so eager to learn and improve and I can honestly say that hasn’t changed.

It’s cliché to say the time has flown, but it really has. So with that said; my goal this next decade is to enjoy the moment more, rather than rushing to the next thing.

Thanks for the support along the way from near and far 🙌🙏

Just over a month ago I could barely walk and this guy had to put my shoes on. Today he's teaching me how to destroy the legs. Thanks again brother, always great to share the mats with you! Thanks to everyone for coming down to support the seminar! 🙌👏

This week in both the White Belt and Advanced Classes we continue our work on Back Control; with a focus on Hand Fighting.

When I'm on the back my goal is to isolate / trap one of the arms before going for the choke.

In the classes this week we will be looking at two sequences that do just that.

To begin with we will look at taking straight grips, controlling the knuckle line, when we are dominent in the Hand Fight.

We will then look at cross grips, controlling at the wrists, when our partner starts to grab our wrists.

All will become much clearer in class, I look forward to seeing you there!

We will be carrying out our next batch of Kids Promotions on Saturday January 27th.

During promotions we invite parents to come upstairs to watch the kids receive their stripes or new belts and see how their game is developing as they take part in some of our favourite drills!

These sessions will happen during the normal Kids Class times but only for the 6-10 and 11-16 year old groups.

From a safeguarding point of view we ask Parents not to film or take photos during the session but we will be happy to take photos with your child or you can take photos of them after the class.

If you're away or your child cannot make it, don't worry we will catch them up on their next available session if they are due a promotion.

Our Grading/Promotion Dates for the next 12 months are as follows:

January 27th 2024

April (Date to be Confirmed) 2024

July (Date to be Confirmed) 2024

October (Date to be Confirmed) 2024

Unlike most martial arts we do not charge for Gradings, Stripes etc, but we do want to make you aware that we consider ability, improvement, attitude and respect over attendance when we look to promote.

Any questions, just ask.

Thanks guys!

On Saturday I promoted ._jb to blue belt at just 16 years old!

Isaac started with us at 7 years old and came through our kids and teens classes, before joining our adult classes last year.

Since then his game has rocketed and he's also a regular in our open mats and comp classes. He has a great approach to training, asks good questions and is always looking to roll with the upper belts.

Welcome to the advanced classes and congrats again!

Huge Congratulations to Gaz Ogden, who was promoted to Black Belt on Saturday after 12 years of training!

If you’ve rolled with Gaz at any point in the last decade, you’ll know how good he is. He has built a really well-rounded game; with an almost impassable and dangerous guard and a formidable passing style.

And even though he only trains 2-3 times a week, Gaz has continually improved month on month, with great focus on his game and a consistent and sustainable approach.

And despite his limited time on the mat each week, he almost always sacrifices his own training time to pass on his knowledge and help out the lower belts.

This selfless approach is something I’ve always admired about Gaz and it’s seen him develop a greater understanding of the art, to a point that I get him to teach classes whenever I can!

Congratulations from us all!
