✨ 100 years old today ✨

You might have noticed we’re looking a little different here at Mellor Lacrosse Club…

In 2025, we are very excited to be celebrating 100 years since the founding of our club.

There will be plenty of exciting events taking place throughout the 2024/25 season to celebrate our Centenary, including the Mellor Lacrosse Centenary Ball, due to be held on Saturday 14th June 2025. More details will follow in the coming months but be sure to add this special date to your diary now.

Introducing an England defender who has only recently made the jump from U21s to Seniors, Josh Poke.

Josh is one of the youngest players on this year’s World Championship squad, turning 21 just a couple of weeks before the tournament, but has impressively risen through the ranks in just a short space of time. 
 
The defenceman and useful LSM won gold at the U20 Euros in 2019, going forward to earn his spot on the roster for the U21 World Championship last year in Ireland. 
 
Since then he has continued to drive forward, winning the BUCS National Championship with Nottingham Trent in March, Home Internationals in April, and then booking his spot on the plane to San Diego for this Summer. 

We will undoubtedly see a lot more from Josh in future Championships, so we’re excited to watch him perform at this top level in San Diego.

For today’s player profile, we’re introducing you to England defender, Tom Hallam.

Tom has been a member of the England Men’s national programme since 2018, and after appearances at Home Internationals and Home Nations Sixes competitions, he will now represent in a major tournament on the biggest stage at a debut World Championship.

He has played his club lacrosse at Mellor LC for over a decade, as well as BUCS lacrosse at Nottingham Trent University where he was a member of the 2018 squad that notably won the National Championship, ending Durham’s nine-year reign.
