Classes at George Lane Con Club & Hatherlow Church. Pick Up Dance offers a range of classes from 2yrs We also do Medal exams with the IDTA under Freestyle.
Pick Up Dance was established in the 1960’s as the Susan Vernon School of Dancing by Susan Vernon/Pickup. Over the years the school gained a big reputation and Susan was a very respected teacher of the Royal Academy of Dance, International Dance Teachers Association and National Association of Teachers of Dance, producing high dance standards. In 2008 Susan retired and the school was passed on to
former students. The school is currently run by Jenny Fletcher & Karolina Romaniszyn - Tong. Pick Up Dance has continued to grow and achieve high standards in examinations, and carrying on Susan’s philosophy we help individual students to gain their full potential, this is central to the schools aims. Continuing to support the church we stage a dance show every 2 years. Pick Up Dance is an important part of the local community and a great place to have fun while doing something you enjoy in a friendly environment. Ballet : At Pick Up Dance we follow both the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) and
Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) examination syllabi, developing technique, musicality and artistry from an early age. Upon first entry into Pick Up Dance our pre school classes introduce students to Ballet in a fun and relaxed environment. Vocational classes, which include Pointe work, are aimed at students who wish to study Ballet at a more intense level. IDTA associate classes are also available to those interested in pursing a teaching career. Tap : At Pick Up Dance we now follow the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) examination syllabus, developing rhythm, style and technique. Our pre school classes also incorporate tap, so from an early age students are learning to be versatile dancers. Teaching opportunities are also available through our tap classes
