Great Ladies Merit competition on Saturday. Congratulations to Chris Law on winning the merit and well played Carolyn for becoming runner up. The consolation was won by Wendy Taylor and runner up was Jo Taylor. Thank you to all who came down today to mark and help with pe***ng. 👍👏 Prizes presented by Past President and Bowling Committee member Alan Mansfield. Just catching up with a couple of big recent bowling pairs comps.
First we had the Internal Pairs competition (choose your own partner) which was won by father and son team Mike and Andy Clegg for the fourth year running, with runners up being Eddie Tasker and Chris Law. A great competition with 12 pairs taking part. The consolation final was won by Gayle Barrow & Sofia Milone, with runners up Nicola Humphries & David Delahunty. Big thanks to our President who played in the competition and presented the prizes. Thank you to all who came down and helped mark and measure.

Next up was Sunday’s conclusion of the Running Pairs. Partners are selected at random and the early stages are played over the first part of the season, followed by a Finals Day.
Congratulations to Lee Jones and Gayle Barrow for winning the trophy and well done to Eddie Tasker and Jo Taylor as runners up. Thank you to all the competitors, markers and supporters. Big thank you to Alison Sharman our Vice President for coming to watch and present the prizes.

Really enjoyable Legends Tennis Tournament today (ie over 60s). Congratulations to Graeme Dagg (happy 60th birthday Graeme !) and Maggie Judkins and to runners-up Debbie and Richard Meadowcroft. Thanks to Richard for organising and to Graeme’s twin sister Laura for helping. Very competitive comp played in a great spirit. We oldies can still get about the court without the “two bounces” rule !

Great Ladies Presidents Prize competition today, the 2 finalists went at it tooth and nail great final and super bowling. Winner was Chris Law and runner up Gayle Barrow. Thank you to all that played in the competition and who came down to mark

The summer family pub night was a fabulous night! It was really well attended and everyone made the most of the warm, sunny evening. It was fantastic to see the courts full of children enjoying playing tennis too.

We look forward to welcoming everyone again for the final pub night in September.

Brilliant Summer Ball at West Heaton on Saturday night. Lovely meal accompanied by superb string quartet and followed by great band and DJ. Everything worked so well, superbly organised by our President Andy Armitage and ably supported by the Social Committee. A great night had by all.

Hi all fantastic days bowling on a hot day - congratulations to Lee Jones on winning the Presidents Prize and well done to Richard Meadowcroft for runner up. Consolation was won by Pete Goulding and runner up David Delahunty. Thank you to all who came down and helped with the marking and pe***ng and to Sue for making scones for all, which raised £11 for the club. Also a big thank you to Alison Sharman our vice President for presenting the prizes today.
Footnote- the trophy was donated in 1983 by that year’s President Harvey Locke, who is still a member and will be at next week’s club Summer Ball.

The West Heaton Golf Day hosted by our sporting neighbours Heaton Moor Golf Club is always a highlight of the year and Friday’s event was up to form.
Well done and thanks to Jill Howarth and Richard Meadowcroft for super and smooth organisation and congratulations to winners Chrissy Fleetwood and Pete Jordan, who now get the honour of organising the 2027 event.

Ladies Rose Bowl today. Well done to everyone. Congratulations to winner Chris Law and stalwart runner up Doris Moores. Consolation winner Gayle Barrow and runner up Wendy Taylor. 95 year old Doris continues to be an inspiration to all, winning two tough matches to reach the final.
